Windows 10, whatever the current update is. It seems as though when I try to install a second (the first works fine) R2R program (have tried several), it doesn't work. It goes through the install process, seems normal, then the application can't be found. I can find the folders and parts of the program in the program directories but the actual application is nowhere to be found. The uninstall apps are there and I can uninstall the application from the control panel. I'm confused!

If for "application" you mean the R2R kgen that is also happening to me although in a slightly different way.
When I execute the R2R kgen for the first time it seems to be working, giving the famous "success" line at the end of the process. Hovever, the kgen didn't actually do anything at all and if I click on it again to re-try I get a windows warning that the exe (the R2R kgen) is nowhere to be found. Yet it is right there in a folder on my desktop!!!
I am on Win7 x64, by the way.
Edit: may I add that when I do the above both antivirus and firewall are dIsabled.

Any insight on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance anyone :)

Did you run the other file succesfully ( the one that should be run before the keygen and add entries in the host file ?
Check your host file if the new entries are there ( read the Read_Me file for more details)

if your firewall is ZoneAlarm, even when deactivated, it is still protecting the host file.
Go into the parameters and uncheck "protect host file" (or something like that)

Avast sometimes blocks file permission without an alert as well. Try a few times for a popup to allow it.

I've experienced similar problem(s) with a new install of win10 and the fall update (1803)
    Try this:
Remove the R2R app (whatever it is)
Go to your control panel - security and disable win defender (completely)
If you have an extra anti-virus, disable it as well (completely)
Install your app, it should work now
If you have an anti-virus, re-enable it, but don't enable defender anymore , otherwise it will disable your new install
coz it think it's harmful for the OS (witch is false indeed)

    Hope this will help

When you have a dedicated OS for music production with no AV, security of any kind, and don't use Internet, you have no problems with anything. Why people find it so hard to install a dual boot and have one OS for fiddling about and the other for making music, is beyond me. Or at least just simply install a VirtualBox VM OS for browsing the Internet with all the shit in the world included if you want [you don't need AV and/or FW with virtual OS, esp. if you use Linux], and keep the host system clean.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts.
@ SineWave.. true comment, but useless right now, if you allow me.
In my case, as pointed above, there is no firewall or antivir. engaged and in any case my PC has the same exact setup of a few months ago, when everything was running as should.
I've always used R2R stuff succesfully but suddently things started not to work.
    I suspect 2 things:
    - a naughty update, or
    - an over zealous cleaning of the registry (I use a couple of tools for that every so often) which destroied some vital files needed for R2R to work properly.

I am soon upgrading the PC with new MB and CPU so a new clean install will (most likely) get rid of the issue yet in the meantime it would be nice to know what the fox might have happened, for the benefit of any one else, including biff.

I have seen many warnings against using registry cleaners.
I have used them years ago and had problems afterwards myself.
Once i finally learned the hard way (no SO hard, as I had recent disk images) I never used one again.
I love a setup with as much trash cleaned as possible, but I won't use a registry cleaner again.

As far as R2R goes, I have excluded the two drives on which I store these type of installs, but R2R will run its keygen in a place not excluded. I have forgotten to turn off AV and had the keygen caught, bt that is the only problem I have had (Win10 version 1803).

    @ biff

Are you saying you can find bits and folders (related to the app) after install but you don't find the *******.exe file ?
(It will be much easier to know witch release you try to install)

I use DONOTSPY10 to turn off EVERYTHING. Select all boxes and disable them. It;s worth a shot. (you can easily turn everything back on)

Also, turn your UAC in control panel all the way down.

Brining up task manager and kill your 3rd party AV tasks.

    Run keygens as ADMINISTRATOR too.

The problem is obvisually the KeyGen. If your Win 10 or Win 7 has no 3rd party AV-Program installed the Windows Defender runs automatically in the background and blocks most of R2R's KeyGens. You should either install a 3rd party AV like Avast (Free version) and then disable all modules when you are about to install cracked Software or apply cracks from R2R....or the insecure way....completely disable Windows Defender by modifying the registry.
Follow the instructions here (use the method discribed at "
How to disable Windows Defender using the Registry"
