I wonder if it is possible nowdays to calibrate your studio speakers so that they mimic a car system? What I think about for example: with some software on a laptop you sit into the car, start the music on the car radio, the software do measurements, then you take the laptop to the studio, measure again, then the software calculates and adjusts the speakers with an EQ curve to give you the sound like in the car. And you can use that EQ curve in the DAW to get that sound.

I have been recommended stuff that have options from a dropdown menu to mimic certain systems, like mobile, earbud, etc. but I found them ridiculous. They give bad results, very different from the real life items.

SoundID & DearVR Mix already have this function. I don't know how accurate the sound is though.

Opinions are often subjective, and for me, SLATE VSX does a very good job of it, but only in headphones. You get the system-wide audio driver with it but I do not use it.

Which car? Which sound system? Which position - driver's or passenger seat?

Yeah you can get a pretty good approximation but on the other hand you could just get into a car.

Sonarworks, that's it, somebody mentioned that before for such purposes, I just forgot the name.

Actually with headphones it would be okay, too. I don't mind. Sounds a bit more simplier to achieve than with the room. But which headphone would be suitable to be used in such a way? Can you mention a specific brand and type, because I have no experience in Studio headphones at all.

Personally, I find SoundID's attempt to be really bad. Doesn't translate that well to any car I've been in.

dSONIQ Realphones did a marvelous job on that.

Slate VSX too. As long you just use VSX headphones since they're tailored to their software.

If you don't really have any headphones to try this on, I'd say spend a little extra on Slate VSX.

Otherwise, if you have a pair that is listed on https://www.dsoniq.com/standard then perhaps see if their 41 day trial of Realphones might work out for you, and your current models.

Could we get the Readers Digest condensed version of what he "found"? Are the Lexus emulations actually a Hyundai? Is there a Pandemic emulation, where every model has the catalytic convertor cut off?

I use the SLATE VSX - It's one of those emulations that people love or they hate. I find it extremely useful and get good mixes from it. You get the tailored headphones with it.
There's $100EU off on BF sale still, but you can get what you're asking in the standard version.

I see they have a car test indeed, it seems to be what I am searching for. A bit pricey though, but might still worth the price if I need to rely on this long term.
