    Hi to all,

this is my first post so I hope I'm not making any mistakes here - I'm currently still using Ableton Live 8 and I've been wanting to switch to 9 but I'm afraid my current projects will be affected somehow or that my plugins will not work properly and I keep on postponing the 'upgrade' until I'm done with current work (which could last forever) - is this a stupid worry? Thanks in advance for any clarification!

It does not effect - at my own experience.

But it is really easy to test it by yourself. You can install the new version in another folder and use the old version if there are any problems. There is no need to override.

i would still finish all projects in ableton 8 and then start fresh project on v9.
    thats what i would do.

No, But If you have live 9.0 and You upgrade to Mavericks, You better think twice! I did that mistake and my mouse and keyboard freezes if the project gets heavier... So I installed 9.1 and realized that my 9.0 projects can't be opened in Live 9.1... So now I have 2 versions of Live in my HD... bare in mind that I dont own the licenses so might be a cracked version issue too...

You can just install a second copy of ableton. It shouldn't affect the files when you install it as long as you install it on a different folder.
You could have ableton 8 32/64 and ableton 9 32/64

Only problem will be the compatibility between 32 and 64.
