The Compressor and EQ in VLC sound better than some commercial plugins I have tried and sounds "musical"
Can someone make a open source plugin to allow us to use VLC tools in our DAWs?

Wow, that's a surprise. That kind of compressor is not designed for musicality. Interesting.

 

when you post some dry/wet wav it would be good , for your cause .
i barely remember that i thought once , the comp is not bad yeah .

 

Well I had no idea that you could use audio plugins in VLC, very interesting and also the compressor would come in handy for certain tedious tasks that I have to do sometimes. Does anyone know how to install this code in VLC?

 

It's installed/included by default:

Menu->Window->Audio Effects... (on mac)

I use quite often to listen clearly to dialogs on modern video entertainment previews ...

Well, it wouldn't be too hard for someone that has a simple VST3 harness written, and has some time and motivation to do this. But it's still work, so that someone might want compensation.

But that someone should be aware that there's a nasty unresolved licensing clash. If I were that someone, I'd steer well clear.

Better get the implementation details and do this in a JS script or something.

 

VLC : best daw ever

 

its very handy for cleaning up crappy audio when watching screencams, which I hardly ever do anymore as they are pretty much crap with the distributors inserting their own commercials for gambling websites every 15 minutes..

but its also good for surround and other images that don't resolve very well. I've used the compressor a number (countless)
of times to cap the sfx and raise the dialogue levels.

also it was fun to watch the latest Godzilla (minus 1) in Sepia.

Sometimes the motion blur is handy when watching really cheezy 3d rendered anime, to give it a more hand drawn look.

There's lots of good bits inside VLC, it was the only reason I stopped using Winamp for watching movies (still use it for audio playback and creating playlists though)
