Anyone able to identify this drum machine from this snippet of a poor quality loop, please?

(It could be a preset on a keyboard - if so can anyone recognise the keyboard?)

Or a vst/kontakt library that contains these bonky noises?

    Mucho thanks in advance :shalom:

I'm by no means an expert but I'll start the ball rolling. It sounds a LOT like a Linn Drum to me.

Not a Linn, more like a Roland TR-77 as heard on tracks like Hiroshima Mon Amour...

    I think that's it...thank you!
Blimey, Diston, did you create an account just for this? Merry Christmas sir/madam/other!

Anyone recommend a Kontakt library that has an authentic(ish) sounding TR-77?

You might be able to do this with Cherry Audio CR-78. I think in ways CR-78 and TR-77 are similar.

If you're a sample guy, search Reverb Drum Machines on the sister site and you'll find a gigantic pack of drum machines that includes both of these and many other drum machines.

(They are named Reverb Roland CR-78 Sample Pack and Reverb Roland Rhythm 77 Sample Pack)

(and I concur with @diston, definitely not LinnDrum )

    Excellent, thank you.

Currently downloading Reverb Drum Machines, Cherry Audio CR-78, Forgotten Keys FK5-ROLAND TR77 and Digital Redux - Planet Drum Machine. Should keep me busy over Chrimbo.

Thanks for the combined wisdom, peeps!

Oh that Forgotten Keys (what you mentioned) bundle looks like a really nice haven of vintage drum machines.. nice. I may have to look at that one.

BTW, the Korg Minipops 7 is another drum machine that has that kinda cheap-organ bosa nova vibe to it (and it was good enough for Jean Michel Jarre!). I use a freebie called Bucket Pops (by Full Bucket) for that drum machine that is actually pretty good. There's also a version as part of that Forgotten Keys bundle.

Roland TR-55, CR-78 or Maestro Rhythm King MRK-2 can make a similar drum sound
