i know this has probably been asked before, but i tried a few keyword combos and could not find anything. i’m about to enter the ‘professional’ market. I’m about to start selling small VO gigs online and plan on hopefully growing as well lol. My only question is, can there be a problem with using only software and plugins from sister site? I’ve never had a problem in the many years I used them personally, but wondering if the file can somehow be shown as corrupt, based on what software they work with? Is there something else that could be an issue that i’m not considering right now?

is it better to run the finished product through audacity or something, before sending the file off, just to be safe?

    what’s your experience generally?

    I appreciate any input

I mean if you are planning/going to make money from it, then buy it. Pirated software from big groups like R2R, AudioUTOPIA.... do use less memory than legit ones. Because of the protection they use.

To answer your question, yes you can use from AZ. But buy them.

    No. It's an oxymoron.

Let me ask you one Q. When you'll produce your VO, you'll obviously own copyright for that work. Can I "copy" it without having the "rights", sell or monetize it? I think not.. Can I get away with it? Ofc, if you/your agent etc don't catch me..

    No moralizing.

Disclaimer: this is highly simplified, e.g. - you own the copyright even if you used stolen, non-legit tools or ended in prison..

since you are currently building a business based on your own copyrights, the "morality aspect" is what you should care for the most.

however, if i take your question as a legal or philosophical question, the answer is "yes". your own work will be totally "legit" when you used software for it which you didnt paid for. there is no such thing as an "illegimate works" - unless the content is not your work.

in case you actually wondered if an mp3 file might contain watermarks if you didnt pay for your compressor plug-in i dont know what to say. i am not the person who tells people to rtfm or make respectless jokes about someone not understanding the basics, i either help or keep my mouth and think what i want. ;P
