    Hi there.

Ableton has very nice DJ and automation tools

Can i send Logic audio through Ableton Rewire and back?

I want to play a track in Logic and tweak the audio with ableton effects.

    greetings :)

ReWire is awesome but using Live ReWired has it's drawbacks.
    No MIDI out.
    No physical audio I/O
    No plugins available.
    No Max for Live Devices.
    No available control surfaces.

One way to get around all these is to not use ReWire but run both as standalone programs, set them both to the same tempo and MIDI map the transport controls to the same controls on an external MIDI device. I like using a footswitch.
Use JACK to route your audio, or in your case Soundflower.

im no expert on rewire, or mixing for that matter, but why not just bounce down? I bounce outside occasionally to use a tool from one of the other daws I own. I learned a ton about my drivers, formats, etc. plus good saving and commit habbits

I only use a few max4live devices but they make my flow that much faster.

Green switch - Turns all devices on audio or midi track on or off with one automatable button
    http://jgarcia.hungry.jp/project/green-switch/

Track Stereo pan - True stereo panning instead of just turning down one side of the signal like lives default panning)
    http://www.maxforlive.com/library/device/2135/track-stereo-pan

PitchDrop - For turntable brake and tape stop effects. 3 controls take 5 seconds or less to setup.

And Chaos Culture Multiclip Midi Editor - This thing is a god send for midi editing. Randomized strumming, Chord overlap displacement, Randomize velocities with a curve. This thing can take static quantized midi and make it human in a few seconds. Not free though.

Sorry for the off topic banter, but someone said max4live.

I havent messed with rewire in a long time, but it was clunky and hard to work with back then. I was tracking a project from live to another daw. I set up all the channels and routed them probably about 20-30 tracks or so. Armed them all and hit play in live while the other daw/project recorded. Learned my lesson and wont do that again. It was much easier to just render it out and move back and forth working with one daw at a time.

If you Rewire the latest Reason you can save your instruments and their settings when you save the project with your host. If you have multiple devices you can save them in a Combinator device and recall it when you open your project with your host. As long as you sequence within your host you don't need to save or reopen RSN project files and you can use the demo mode indefinitely.

In case any of you guys missed it, this is a must-have if you use Max for Live devices.

The first M4L device loads normally but any device after that loads extremely fast and hot-swapping is actually usable.

    Recognize, yo.

In my case, I use different plugin folders for Live and Cubase so I can't even use VSTs in Rewired Live. At any rate, Cubase... Studio One.. pretty much all the DAWs you would actually want to rewire into Live refuse to offer Rewire slave support. Just massively disappointing. I'm a Push 2 user - I want to send midi from Live dammit.
