I am trying for one hour to get cubase to record midi based on custom quantize settings. Soft quantize is on at 75%. I don't use any midi modifiers or midi inserts, and everything just records exactly to the beat. What am I doing wrong?

 

Have you tried much smaller percentages, like under 25, perhaps you're so close to the beat that the 75% is catching everything and you aren't getting the variations you're looking for. I'm not there to observe your timing so I don't know how "off" you're playing and still seeing no results.

EDIT: Ignore that, brain fart, you want MIDI Auto Quantize on, it's AQ on the transport bar. All your quantize settings get applied with that on, including your soft mode, etc

Yes I already have the AQ enabled. But cubase behaves like it ignores my quantize settings.

maybe AQ doesnt follwo the soft quantize setting, but only the selected quantize from the quantize menu?

 

Yeap, I believe thats the case here. I come from S1 and I though that something similar could work on Cubase. It follows quantize, swing but not how hard or soft it will apply those.
