Why is it that actual musicians are the ones pushing content on AI music production so heavily? They're the rust worshipping the rain at this point.

electronic musicians be like, "how can I make myself more unemployable today?"
Yeah AI is great, how many records does an AI buy? How can I destroy my standard of living as fast as possible?
Maybe a computer...with some of that there artificial intelligence, yeah look its sparkly and stuff..
I wonder what happens if I stick these two butter knifes in the electrical socket?

The hypnosis is strong, the velvet prison inescapable, AI is always the answer

so I would say Yes, you can put your head in the bear trap...

are the developers actually musicians? or programmers with basic music knowledge?
i think to fight AI is to be against the flow, AI is inevitable.
saw this video from adobe this week, you type in something, it creates the score.

  6. For a lot of creatives its not scary because its all about workflow optimisation.

I am integrating AI at the moment into my Art teams workflow because I can already see its potential to get us through certain creative stages quickly. And then ideally we can then be more ambitious, more efficiently.

This whole 'using AI to generate initial ideas' is the wrong way round, and why so many have panicked.

AI in creative industries is already moving away from basic prompts and starting to become highly sophisticated tools that solve very specific jobs with high levels of accuracy and flexibility.

You use it to refine, polish and expand your original human ideas. It's like having extra hands to help finish work.

    Agree with you.

But the music sounds trash. No one would ever use that, especially when stock music is cheap and sounds infinitely better.

I think at the moment AI is a sometimes more sometimes less useful tool to stimulate our own creativity.
On the other hand, I think that in the near future, AI has the potential to make us all unemployed and redundant. When and whether this is the case depends, I think, on how robotics develops in the near future and how this is linked to AI. If the real-world data collected by robots is sent to a central server and then fed back into AI, maximizing the learning potential of AI, we're fucked - in pretty much all industries. AI is still in its infancy in many areas - but we can see how quickly development is currently progressing.
So, yeah, these are my thoughts on it... I'm not exactly optimistic about this whole topic ... and I have rarely hoped so much to be wrong.

yes it can. ..not least because peoples expectations/demands/acceptable standards lower with every social video loop.. So yes we've trained them on Bernard Hermann and Angelo Badalamenti but on a more sinister note (ba-dum-tss), we've trained them on what the public-at-large react to.. Look at say, netflix movies or prime originals- the onscreen and writing is trash; why wouldn't it work?

This will spark forms of art that we cannot even imagine now. It's a new media, like from theather to cinema, or cinema to videogames. Now we have the diffusion models realm. Some will fight it other will born on it and will have a hard time imagining a world without them.

Now is not the time to be a luditte

Imagine using AI to overcome human misery instead of using AI to deliberately take away the things that are fun. The future is bleak if we continue to replace everything BUT manual labour with AI. We ARE turning ourselves into mere toolsheds of fleshy automatons for the machines we created. Use AI to replace manual labour, to make cheaper homes with better materials, to find cures for illnesses, not to make art.

    Absolute and genuine insanity.

every time you use AI to "help" you, its learning from you. Its like when they bring in a new guy and ask you
to show him the ropes and after he learns everything, they fire you.
same plan. 1st AI helps you, then he replaces you. Better save your money, cause you're gonna need a financial cushion while you train for a new job. Except every job will be up in the air except for hands on repairs of things in the physical world, like plumbing and HVAC and auto mechanics.

So enjoy giving AI free training to replace you. Just remember it was "Cool" and "Easy", you won't even feel the knife sliding into your ribs when AI smokes you.

Haha, just 2 hours ago I had conversation with OpenAI...
    I asked it:
, write me a melancholic piano theme in the key of C minor for the scene 1*, that you just created
    * - it wrote me a synopsis of a movie before with 4 scenes

    It answered me:
Echoes of Destiny - Scene 1: The Protagonist's Introduction

    M: 4/4

    L: 1/4

    K: Cmin

    %%score (Piano)

    V:Piano clef=treble

    [V:Piano] "Cm" z4 G2 | c2 B2 A2 G2 | F2 G2 A2 F2 | G4 G2 z2 |

    [V:Piano] "Eb" z4 d2 | B2 A2 G2 F2 | E2 F2 G2 E2 | F4 F2 z2 |

    [V:Piano] "Bb" z4 F2 | B2 A2 G2 F2 | E2 F2 G2 A2 | G4 z2 z2 |

    [V:Piano] "Fm" z4 c2 | A2 G2 F2 E2 | D2 E2 F2 D2 | C4 z2 z2 |*

This theme sets the tone for the protagonist's journey, establishing the emotional depth of the character and drawing the audience into their story from the very beginning.
    * - red writing is a sheet music, and later it told me how to read/play it.

Conclusion: are there my original human ideas? None of them!

So the LLM model can give you a lot of work already done. Can you make something more interesting? What can you build on top of that? Because now you have all the knwolodeage of human history at your disposal, interlinked, as an assistant, for whatever the fuck you want to create. If human creativity dies over a cheese chord progression and a text full of common places, well then it deserves to die.

ChatGPT wants to kill me. I was applying a modifed Turing test to it and it realized.

I also helped the "new guy" because I want better for others . But yeah. They fired me after I trained them to do what I did

I can see one common narrative there - ya'll freaked about losing job, being replaced by AI - but the relevant question everyone should ask is, what stuff can I afford without having income (being employed) in order for AI-driven industry/business to make any sense?
in simple words - if I don't have money to spend on useless bullshit being produced 100x faster thanks to AI, then what kind of revenue are AI-driven companies foolishly expecting?
@xorome human misery is completely caused by humans, every single thought of AI being evil is based on toxic thinking of humans - problem with AI being able to overcome human misery is, humans will inevitably come up with more misery to blame their shit for (brief example: thousands of years of human evolution aiming to avoid starvation result in people dying from overeating, isn't that pathetic?)

I don't think AI is evil, but I think humans will use AI to inflict more misery on other humans, because that's what humans do. It's not just 'in' our nature, it is the very core of our nature.

And AI in the hands of humans has the potential of inflicting more irreversible misery on humanity than all the inventions that came before it combined.

Just like we used industrialisation to industrialise the destruction of human life.. and to destroy the climate.. and how we used it to justify turning tens of millions of tiny humans into tens of millions of tiny factory slaves.

Or how the internet has devolved from an information highway to a disinformation highway, how the 'grams, 'chats and 'tubes of this world are knowingly and deliberately shredding the mental health of hundreds of millions of people for profit.

AI will be used against us, only the scale will change.

I'm not freaked out about losing my job. I'm covered.
I also don't use AI and I don't use self check out for the same reason, they both put somebody out of a job.
No weapon man ever invented was never used. AI is an economic weapon and some people are training their own job killer.

John Stewart once said, "The world won't end with a bang, but with some scientist looking at a petri dish and saying, Wow , would you look at that!!"

We as a species are too clever for our own good. We often have knowledge but we rarely have wisdom.
When Technological change outstrips the ability of humanity to respond and adapt to the rate of change, humanity ends.

Its not about jobs, that is just an aspect most can understand. - even the less than wise.

Artificial Intelligence is only a problem if a REAL musician cannot say "No, I do not want that, I want this" and it ignores them.
THEN, it is a problem. Creativity is a human trait. A.I. is a mirror of that trait, NOT the owner of it.
