ins't 32-bit dither essentially no dithering?

It should be, as long as there is no change in bit depth. If the Session is 24 bit, though; it can actually Dither Up by again adding white noise. It's the opposite of Truncation.

Oh? I didn’t know this. So i guess leaving the plugin at “24 bit” dither in my 32 bit session and exporting as 32 bit floating would be “no dithering”

Please point to where it is that I've said dithering to a lower bitrate than your current session's amounts to no dithering.
I was just asking if dithering to a higher bitrate than your session (assuming it was 24-bit) actually did anything. You said the plugin only allowed you to switch between 16 and 32.

    Bit *depth.

32bit FP needs no dithering. Dithering is only needed when downsampling to 24bit and (especially) 16bit.
Edit: Oh, so there isn't an option for "none" to be chosen? That's a bit weird. Can you uncheck any of the 24 or 16?
