Cableguys HalfTime VS SlowMo - best halfspeed plugins?

    Playing the loops on half speed is a commonly used method on a couple of genres. For example Trip Hop. You layer them. Think Massive Attack - Man Next Door :) With the plugins you can trigger or automate them as you wish for more complex effects.

    I get it that Half-Time is cool and useful, but the easiest method for me in Reaper is to just bring the clip properties up [F2], choose the stretching algorithm [e.g. Elastique Pro] I'd like to use with it, and just lower the speed ratio. It's that easy, and of very high quality.

    Just to mention some alternative options, if you don't mind. :wink:

    I do not know how to Reaper but in Samplitude I can automate the entire BPM, and yes, Elastique Pro is the best :grooves:

    10 € for Halftime is a no brainer deal!
    Although I actually haven't used it in a production, since I bought it.
    But I can't think of a simpler way to do what it does manually.

    Yes, Reaper can also automate BPM changes on a tempo track and thus audio speed. It's pretty impressive. :wink:

    It can do the Halftime live, so yes it is useful. No need for post process

    TIP make sure the DAW is looped long enough to allow the plugin to do its job. IE 8 bars or 16 :) if you are going for really slow x4, 8 bar, seems to bug out in Presonus 4

    Does anyone have problems with clicking using these plugins, whenever I use mrhythmizer, slomo or halftime it makes clicking sounds...is this something to do with transients or is it just me that has this problem?

    I also hear clicking too, but I fixed this using DeClicker.

    so this and waves declicker don't really work, but waves xcrackle seems to do most of the job. maybe I need to look more into static and crackle suppression

    Be careful not to mix up those half-time plugins with time stretching. They don't.
    It's simple re-pitching without tempo correction, like you would change the speed of a tape machine.

    I think I remember this issue was only with the Momentary Preset in gross beat. Something is wrong with that patch!

    The fun in halftime is when you automate dry/wet , the speed of the fx, the filters bands.
    Works in real time with midi instruments while playing
    It is pretty unique IMO
