Hi
I came across these plugins which slow down input signal in real time:
SlowMo by Initial Audio and HalfTime by Cableguys
1) which of these two plugins is more versatile/ gives more possibilities?
2) has a better sound quality?
3) are there any problems with any of these 2 plugins? (some bugs or anything?) (I'm on Win7 64bit, FL Studio 20)

Is there any other plugin that is better at doing this same task?

Both do the same, but HalfTime has more options.

 

Cableguys make great plugins. Halftime was and is my choice.

 

don't want to hijack the thread, but can someone enlighten me why you'd want a plugin for this sort of thing instead of just slowing it down manually

I wasn't thinking about bringing the effect in and out, hadn't watched the video. I was vaguely aware that half-time effect was a thing lately, but in my mind I was like "why wouldn't you just slow it down lol" I get it now

 

fades, isolate frequency you want to slowdown, switching chops from 16/8/4

 

if your on FL20, use grossbeats(??? not sure of the name dont have FL)
then you dont need 3rd party plugin.

but, i did test out half-time and it had alot of options. the "slowmo" plugin seems to have very few features, but what do i know

If you've got a decent DAW, you don't need a VST do do the job.

 

Yup, gross beat, permut8, stutter edit can do this sort of thing, tho none as easily as the cableguys one it seems. In general i like gross beat better than the cableguys alternative, but i dont think it has a mix envelope. Cant remember offhand tho, i could be wrong. For anyone with an elicenser, VPS glitch bitch is another really cool one, which btw can do mix modulation like halftime. Pretty sure it's still on sale for like 25 bucks

 

Did this like a charm for me for years, then all of the sudden grossbeat resets during playback clicking anywhere in my daw.
highly annoying

 

That one is great for making ambient!
or making "vocal atmosphere" that suits the vocals

i still have no idea wtf im doing with that one.
downloaded that thing way back when it first came out on the sister site , and bought it two years ago.
ended up being a mainstay vst that gets used a lot on beats and bass sounds.

 

Good old Image Line quality for ya.

I had a bug where gross beat wouldn't sync in Ableton Live. Went back and forth on the support forums for a while and they sent me a preset of special settings and parameters that makes it sync. Great, but over and over again I'm like... "thanks but you guys are gonna fix this, right?" Silence.

Image Line: the worst best plugin company.

 

Permut8 is my favorite "no one knows how good this really is" plugin. It does so much. I made a Live rack with permut8 and 32 external instrument devices that allows me to use its bitcrush/buffer functions as a playable effect. Happy accident city.
