I use Ableton Live for a long time and I always pirated it. I see that many used Push 2 without Live license is for sale for a good price. If I buy one, can I use it with pirated Live on PC, or I will need to own a license?

yes this works. But I believe push 3 standalone is not working without a proper license

No problem with Push 1 or 2, I frequently update Ableton from the sister site. I think Push updates are baked-in to Ableton updates but I'm not sure - though mine has been updated automatically a couple of times with no issues.

Yes, they have been integrated into Live. But with the latest update I've i nstalled, that has changed. The Push driver is now an own piece of software who's interface is living in the system tray. But that doesn't matter though. :)

On the Ableton website, Push 3 can be purchased with a Live license. The minimum "Intro" Version is bundled for free.

I'm pretty shure it'll work with the "shareware" version on Sister.

Push and Push standalone is a little confusing.

Ableton calls it Push every other human being calls it Push 3.
When you buy a Push 3 standalone this version has two modes in one box, 'standalone' and 'control Live'
The latter works with Live 'shareware' versions just like a push 2, but has some new features. First and foremost MPE.

So does that mean one can use the Push 3 "controller" version without an "official" ableton live licence?

    A. If you buy a $2.000-"standalone"- version you'll definitely need a full version of the Live software (Standard or Suite).
The first thing this computer does (and in it's essence it is just a computer with an attached push controller) is downloading a legit registered version from your Ableton account. (and intro is senseless imho)

    B. If you buy a "non-standalone" version you can use a "shareware" version like with the Phush 2.

    So yes.

If you want to test it, just order the Controller Version. If you don't like it -> 30 days unconditional money back guarantee.

But IDK why one should buy a controller for that price tag. Where I live you can buy used Push 2 for ~300€ on ebay.
Most of the push 2 where never really used, thus they are sold as "mint" or "like new" mostly.

It works but will probably end up collecting dust on your desk.
