I know it doesn't matter what you call it, but what word do you prefer to use?

    I prefer Buss, because
    1. An extra letter makes me feel smarter.
    2. You can impress people by explaining where the word Buss came from
    3. When organizing my mixer, I often confuse bus with a motor vehicle and it helps avoid the confusion.
If you're Canadian like myself, you might be tempted to vote Boos. Because apparently people think we all talk like that.

It is a bus, just like in other electrical devices.

I don't know where buss came from but maybe it's a geographical thing. Doesn't matter to me either way.

It has always been "buss," but propagation via the semi-literate internet has brought the spelling to be popularly believed to be "bus" without awareness of any precedent.

It may even have been called that since day one. My point is that the thing that the word "buss" refers to is in fact a bus.

Someone somewhere misspelled it, people who didn't know any better copied, now with the Internet, the growth of computer music, audio technology, and the many tutorials misspelling it, it has now become acceptable.

    It's always that someone somewhere.

It's an old word that goes back to the console days and we always spelled it "buss" as far as I remember. Probably to differentiate it from the public transport vehicle. So you can say it's an audio technician word. When you write "buss", people will/should know what you're talking about. :winker: At least I do. But there's nothing wrong with spelling it "bus", of course.

I am not aware of IT/electronics people ever using the word "buss" for that reason. How the hell could you mistake it for public transportation?

    Lack of context much? :knock:

Bus is correct (US and UK), Buss is accepted. So it boils down to personal choice from there.

Bus or buss - doesn't matter, as long as we understand each other.

But you're/your and there/they're/their on the other hand! Oh, my!

Exactly that, a bus is simply multiple participants using one wire.

    OMG, wher is teh option?

I think "buss" came from "buss-ing". Anyone feel like brushing up on their grammer? :bleh:

Edit: While we're at it... Is it BAss [Bash] or Base [Bass] (B-ace)?
