Building a 1000$ PC for FL Studio. Need advice

    nope, all add on card or motherboards that have thunderbolt 3 don't need a "controller". Where did you read that Z390 AORUS XTREME had a "controller". As far as I know there is nothing special about that Z390 AORUS XTREME thunderbolt port, except that the firmware don't support thunderbolt 1 yet

    have the other ones this option ?
    when i buy such board but will buy thunderdome interface year or two later or even three yearsc later ..how are the chances will i need thunderbolt 1 ?

    are there interfaces i should know of that demand thunderbolt, or why is thunderbolt still a thing? imho thunderbolt wIll not last as long as pcie or usb. For me (just me!) thunderbolt feels like firewire 400. Apple featured it, we all had to have it, my interfaces using it are dead as a dodo.

    it has just began..check the rates in links ..i have firewire but im yesterday guy :rofl:

    when i understood this right...its big part of the future...

    Yes, only the new Gigabyte motherboards and add on card has this "issue". Presonus Quantum which is thunderbolt 2 works great

    Just another "name" for a regular Thunderbolt 3 port

    I'm pretty sure Thunderbolt has come to stay, and will outlive usb. More and more motherboards gonna have native thunderbolt ports, and all new audio interfaces gonna be thunderbolt for a long time. Thunderbolt and PCI is much better for audio than USB due to latency and stability. So no I don't think Thunderbolt gonna be the new firewire. To me it actually does not matter cause Thunderbolt is without any discussion better than Firewire and USB, and it works great on Windows today. If a new better port is available when I gonna buy a new audio interface I will use that. Maybe Thunderbolt 5 or something :rofl:

    the most important thing with Thunderbolt when it comes to audio is not the speed (you don't need 40 Gbit/s), but that it has direct access to the motherboard which USB do not. Thunderbolt is basically a PCI slot through a cable
