Well floyd actually brought up skin color. So this time that applies, but most of the time when this line is used it's a (bad) straw man argument. First is the obvious point that Muslim isn't a race. But that's only half of a thought really because it doesn't account for the possibility of being bigoted against Muslim people based on their ethnicity. If someone dislikes Muslims for their ethnicity, their skin color, their nationality, whatver... sure, that's reprehensible. However if you decide that you'd rather not import a large population of people of whom a significant portion believe their religious customs should override national laws, and indeed do create territories within cities with the purpose of enforcing their brutal religious law and deterring outsiders and even law enforcement with hostility, then you are against a set of ideas and behaviors, and you should be allowed to dislike anyone's ideas or behaviors without fear of being called a racist. I have no doubt that a majority of the Muslims entering the West are normal people who, whether or not they want to follow their religious laws rigidly, would not do so violently. But I have been a lifelong opponent of religion insinuating itself in public policy or imposing itself on those who don't wish to be bothered by it, and Islam produces more fanatics than any other religion in the world. I'm allowed to dislike that, and it has nothing to do with the fact their skin is brown. You and everyone else that cries racism as a first line of defense against critical examination of religious zealotry can fuck right off with that nonsense.

Cultural relativism is nothing but a projection of one's own un-acknowledged bigotry. It strongly parallels what some feminists call 'soft mysogyny'. i.e. the idea that they are somehow not capable of living up to the same standards of (in this case) decency or civilization as everyone else and therefore should not be expected to. As you say...

I was merely pointing out the rhetoric being used by the Leave campaign. It doesn't really matter now. My point was that they were using Islam to scare people into voting leave. While also saying that we could have more immigration from old commonwealth countries. Well there are more muslims in old commonwealth countries.

I categorically disagree with Islam producing more fanatics than anywhere in the world. Some would argue that Nazi and Fascism were by products of Catholicism. The Church doesn't come out of the holocaust as a victim but a willing collaborator.

I already have visited the US and can reliably inform you that people in the US are like people anywhere else. Some are a-holes some are not. As I have already posted - I believe in people.

Any animosity about the US is usually directed to the likes of the Washington establishment/elite. Nothing personal here brother.

The majority of people who voted to leave are gullible and usually similar to trump voters ,as in poor ignorant and caucasian with a false sense of entitlement ,and they fall for scare tactics sadly ,sad times as you guys say!!

 

Most of the europeans who go to the uk to find work are truly broke and they are mostly truly going to work and usually do whatever the brits won't do,which means there are opps for brits to do business in there country ,be it little or large ,and lets face it even a poor brit is better off than most of the world including the rest of europe.

 

I won't deny that many of the people that voted to leave, did so based on ignorance and prejudice. That is actually wholly correct. Much of our mainstream media obsesses over foreigners. So it's no wonder people are so bigoted. I would call most of these people casual racists. It just turns out that incredibly, even though it was largely based on false assumptions, the majority actually did a good thing here. IMHO

 

Enough politics i hate it,whats done is done we can only learn from the past and make better decisions in the future.

 

Yeah they did dude it's sad people coming together is always better than separation, separation breeds ignorance then we have to rely on other peoples perspective,it's not the end of the world.....yet.

Seems to me some states of the USA ain't to keen either. What about Orthodox Christianity in Russia? Are they welcoming to Gays ?
What about the Rastafari in Jamaica ? Most of Africa ain't to fond of it either.

Basically I wouldn't be to confident in the Wests ability to stay hate free. Here in the UK we have blamed everything from, The poor, The disabled, The bankers, The Elite, The politicians and now the EU.

I'm wondering who we'll be blaming next...
