Note:
I am trying it (vocal patches) and I've found a potential problem. There is a patch called
"Small_Room2" and a second called "Small_Room_1". As an old software developer I think
this is a typical there is no more time error. I hope it will be fixed... soon (v1.0.4?).

 

the dev choosed to call it imperial.. is it because it can only be bought by princes and kings ? because 299$ for a delay... it's almost the price of a full daw... with probably a better stock plugin than this imperial one

Yeah I don't understand why costs are so high on some plug-ins, it's just wild free for all pricing. I understand that development isn't cheap but how can you expect a lot of people to buy your product with a price tag like that? Then they try to pin it on warez. Lucky there's a decent intro offer at least.

Yea, I saw that $299 and thought the same as you Catalyst. But then I read in the fine print that every time you sync it to your BPM it performs sexual favours on you, whatever your preference. I immediately whipped out my credit card and laid it across to Boz 'cause a deal like this is too hard (pun intended) to pass up. Needless to say, this is my new go to delay

 

Yeah kinda agree those bearded King types look kinda like deviants of some nature. I shall Look forward to trying the tempo settings on the Ping Pong & looper in that case!

Must agree $299 seems expensive but if there an offer on possibly a good time to grab it.

Don't think there many good Delay plugins that suit my purposes so could be worth a look.

Is there a working demo available?

 

$299? silly price. Imperial? silly name. Sonic Quality? Just okay.

Impoorial.,, Im good with Fabfilter and Abletons delays... beware, a lot of hype around this thing.

Both the main screenshots also have compositing errors.

Maybe it's because I've been staring at the screen for too long, but I'm about to say some sappy stuff, so feel free to ignore it. I was really worried about pricing this plugin at $299. That's a lot of money for a plugin, and I've been doing everything I can to supply quality plugins for as low a price as possible. But the truth is, this plugin is the culmination of many, many hours of work and research and loss of sleep, and frankly, I believe it is worth it's price tag.

However, you guys are the reason that Boz Digital Labs even exists today, and you are the reason that we are offering such a low price the first two weeks of launch. I wanted to give you guys a chance to get this plugin at a price that you have come to expect from BDL plugins. I know that even this sappy stuff sounds like a sales pitch, but I can assure you that a lot of fight went into making sure this sale price was as low as I could get it.

So I just wanted to send you a huge thanks for allowing us to continue making plugins. There are so many more we have planned, and you guys are the ones that make it happen.

A "next" button on the presets will be on the next update. Also, we're working on getting a more comprehensive set of presets going. It has plenty of wacky presets that show the extremes of it's capabilities, but is lacking on standard, use every day type presets.

Btw, what a crappy name they choose in the end. Didn't tried it yet. I won't even try it probably. Too pricey.

 

Like I mentioned have never heard a decent versatile Delay plugin to date. Maybe I not using the right ones. For my purposes i.e guitar they suck. All my time dependent effects are stuck in the fx loop of my amp. $299 dollars seems crazy!! Could get a TC D2 Rack Delay for that but I stress that's just for what I need. Could be good for other things I guess. I reckon around 59 dollars sounds about right full stop but I haven't tried it so won't predjudge

Hope they not use Ilok shite & if they do for that cash outlay they better do something about customer support.

Ilok been the only thing that put me off soundtoys in the past as they make great plugins.

 

They are switching soon to iLok/EDEN without dongle.
Time to buy it as soon as money permit. Almost the only delay I use alongside Lives one for quick stuff.

"I've been debating whether or not to interject and explain the pricing on this or to just sit back and just view this thread as entertainment. I'll take my marketing mask of for a minute and explain to you guys what's going on here. Here's the deal:

Any company who makes recording software is selling their stuff to two completely different markets, the Commercial market and the Consumer market. Each of these markets plays by different rules.

The commercial market has much deeper pockets, but is a lot smaller. These are the mega studios and the big producers, etc. These guys are not hanging out in forums. For them, buying software is an investment. If they need a certain plugin, they are not going to wait for it to be on sale. If you have Elton John in your studio and he says "I need this effect on my vocals" you are not going to say "Oh yeah, I know what will do that! Waves has a plugin that does that exactly. I hear they have great Black Friday sales, so I'll pick it up next month so we can finish this song." Obviously that's not how it goes down. He needs that plugin and he needs it now, and the price is almost irrelevant (up to a point obviously). In the commercial market, the cost of the plugin reflects on the quality. These guys don't have time to sift through 1000s of plugins to find the one they like. MSRP is a great way to filter out the low quality stuff (whether it's a valid filter or not is definitely up for debate. I have tons of free plugins that I love, but I had to sort through a lot of crappy ones to find them.)

The consumer market, on the other hand, is a completely different beast. For the most part, plugins are not investments, they are toys. No, me having two guitars is not an investment. I would not lose income if I lost one of my guitars. The consumer market doesn't have nearly as much time pressure as the commercial market. The consumer market tends to (and should) shop by sales. Most of the time, we don't have any real pressing need to buy stuff, we just have pressing wants. That's why we wait for sales, because by being patient, we can get our toys and save a bunch of money. The consumer market is a lot bigger, but doesn't have deep pockets.

So how do you sell the same product to both markets?

You can do the Sonar/PT/Steinberg model where you make a product and then make crippled versions of it and sell the crippled version for a lower price. The idea is that people will get hooked and upgrade if they need to down the road. That probably works well, but requires more development time and resources. That's fine for large companies, not so good for small companies.

You can do the Reaper model, where they have two prices for the exact same product. They are relying on the honor system to enforce the market differences. That works, except for the fact that Reaper will always be known as the $60 DAW, which is a shame because it's by far the best DAW I've ever used.

Or you can do the Waves model, which is to price your plugins high and have sales. That way you use time pressure instead of honor system pressure to separate your markets. I used to think it was dumb, but the more I understand the market, the more it actually make sense to me. Obviously, that's what we did with this Delay.

The $300 price tag should be irrelevant to everybody here. That price isn't meant for you. It's meant for a different market altogether. The $59 price tag is what is meant for you. The projected sales from you after the price gets hiked is hovering right around 0 (give or take a few). If you are offended by the $300 price tag, it's for no other reason that you are just looking for an excuse to be offended by something. Yeah, being able to say "$240 OFF!!!!!" makes for a great email subject, but nobody's going to buy based on that alone.

Yes, the price will go up to $299 after the initial sale is over. Once it has had time to percolate through to commercial market, it will go on sale again for a consumer price. I don't know how long that will be. So no, the high price tag wasn't pulled out of thin air. It also wasn't meant to gouge customers.

I could probably write 10 more pages on this, because I find it all fascinating, but I don't think anyone would care to read it."
