Just a little something I whipped up. How is the mix?

Bass can be deeper/ harder. Nice mix tho'

 

Yeah some of the bass notes are a little higher than I would have liked. I was thinking of changing the key from C to F so I can get a little more sub bass. I think some of the hardness of the bass got lost in the re-sampling I did. Also from 0:14 to 0:43 I have a slight highpass filter on the growly bass so when it comes back at 0:59 it hits a little harder. Can you recommend any ways to make it deeper/harder?

 

Nice mix indeed! I don't mind the bass. Maybe I would add another layer with a slight sub-bass to even out the bottom. Good job!

 

In the key of C is too standard for me. 'AAAAAAh another song in the key of C'! Since i make hiphop tracks, i notice lots of hiphop is in the key of F or F#

But i didnt noticed your key of C. I like the key of G for that nice bassounds. That G note bass, you can hear it everywhere in songs: a louder warmth bass feeling.

So F like you suggested would be nice! To make your bass harder: some compression on the kick, some side comp on the bass. Dont forget to compress the end mix a bit so it is more glued together. First you have to EQ the bass and basskick a bit. Overall it is a very nice mix! Dont worry to much about it.

A riser should be great to buld after 0:56 seconds.

And some stop pauze moments. Like at 2:47. The cymbal hit could be great with some delay (3 times or 4 times)then let slowly build up that bass sound melody with volume and a riser, some kicks faster kicks so it follows up 3:02 nice slower part. An extra synthsounds like a lasersound should be great at the end too.

Really, you have a nice song with a well done production. That bass part louder is not really necessary.

Like what you said, a different key could do the trick! And we need a second mix of this!

 

Honestly it's in the key of C for convenience. It's the easiest key for me to play. So I will definitely try transposing to F or maybe G. I like the idea for a gradual buildup of the bass and a riser between 2:47 and 3:02.

I agree that the bass is loud enough. But I think that after I transpose up and take incognito's advice and add a separate sub bass layer to even things out, I'll get the sound that I'm looking for. It might be a day or two before I can get to work on the changes, but I'll definitely post an updated mix.

Extra subbass layer can be nice but can distort or overdone in the mix. Make sure you equalize the second subbass well. In Ableton, it works fine with multiband dynamic EQ. The fun trick of this is, you can use FX like chorus, panning, distortion in certain frequencies to make the sound deeper/ stranger...
