You actually know what its used for? and un encrypted?
Oh wait; Apple can blame someone else if the un encrypted data gets into the hands of a terrorist or thieves plotting to rob your home or buy bit coins with your bank card.

I guess your saying we should trust NSA cyber chief at Apple https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna41254128 cause according to evidence released to the public they spied on love interests, intellectual property as well as political and economical reasons and NSA is not allowed to do this..; My point is not that privacy is gone but that no one is willing to do something about it and instead shut down any control of it.

You guys can block all this here
    https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/406322/what-harm-will-denying-ocsp-apple-com-do
says/ Blocking OCSP does not interrupt normal certificate validation. Your Mac will still be able to tell whether or not the software has at some point received the “blessing” from Apple that makes it pass validation. If you have non-signed software or software signed by someone else than Apple, this will still be picked up by the system.

I think nobody here know either.

I never save my card card info to any online account, anyway I don't use my computer that much for online presence or social media tbh.

I didn't say that you should trust anyone incl. apple, But that's not how things work. They collect your data not only apple even much more sites that you visit daily. I have personal experience about this, i worked at a regional online marketplace as an it related personal. They also collected user data, they analysed them to mange site ads based on user interests. This is a common procedure over various sites that doesn't mean they gonna sell them to criminals, until they loose facebook etc.

I think our smartphones are more vulnerable than computers tho, If you really care about your privacy first you should cure it.

Edit: ocsp, is an app developer verification method used by mac alongside gatekeeper and it only takes developer hash from your computer and now doesn't log user ips. Apple told to provide a user preference in order to use the function or not in future os updates.

And this protocol also exists on previous systems before bigsur.

I agree with everything yous said, its just 2 things
1 Government abuses always takes place with spying, to infiltrate where ever the people gather or socialise
2 The guys @objective development who wrote little snitch said Apple stopped this OSC data collection and leaks weeks into it a year ago and all is normal now....

So I sent them screenshots and asked why its still there and there is no way to block it so we see the alerts, there is only a way to disable (uncheck) it.... and no one has gotten back to me yet with an answer.

BTW CCC now only does data back ups, no more bootable clones since BigSur

    Exactly.
Things that were initially standard have been found out and taken away!
Found to be priviledges we aren't allowed anymore!
I now feel sad for the youngers who have invested in M1.
Partly for how cracks will be, or not, and partly due to how hard Apple are making it to install anything 3rd party now, and lastly the privacy aspect.
Because it's always been a bit like it!
And I wish people would really investigate their choices fully before jumping in and then asking loads of questions here which are often standard macOS questions, but now mixed with obvious Big Sur problems.
Social programming via the media channels are to blame for people blindly following the major corporations.

    Gaslighting Mike Hunt?

Is that like a play on Dickens's Fanny by gaslight?

Yeah I know I know. I'm half expecting tumbleweed to slowly drift across my screen in silence!

I admit, I have been waiting to use that kind of joke here too...
    But you nailed it, geezer!
Saw the opportunity and did it!
I can rest in peace now.

Ya know I just had a thought. I know he had a sister called Fanny but did Dickens actually write Fanny by Gaslight? I dunno now.

Turns out Michael Sadleir wrote it after Dickens had already died.. I'd better shaddup now before I get told off for hijacking the thread..

Just use Wireshark, sniff the IPs and block them via hosts file.
I knew I did everything right when I used this method instead of Little Snitch when I heard the news about the cryptoware release ;)

There were real cracks after that, but it's always better to own it outright.
I didn't know it was cryptoware though.
    Interesting!
    Also, it's still out there!
