To be honest i think the problems i have regarding bugs are due to the copy i have and not the official release.
Yes i dont like the workflow, but i do like the daw ,
I may source a different release and give it a go once more, without the bugs who knows, it may not be as bad as ive depicted,

the copy you might use only could have a beeping problem other than that it equal to the official release.

Also, not saying its your problem, but most of the times the problems are operating system based. Could be a small thing, like an driver error that messes up your whole system and make some daw's buggy. some not.
A nice fresh new install or reset of your operating system does wonders sometimes

I was testing some of the releases myself against legit one, remember one having Ableton import issue whereas same legit one worked normally, there's certain parts of program that get triggered same way as beeping problem, it's U He protection there at play.

It's not simple serial key protection where one just score working combination from keygen, altering is involved and one can't be really sure what is going to get triggered, time bomb and when.

Due to the faster rate of updates if you downloaded 4.4 [released 05 October 2022] from the sister site, aside from whatever problems that release may have, you're also missing New Features, Improvements, and a whole lot of Bug Fixes: 4.4.1 [released 21 October 2022], 4.4.2 [released 27 October 2022], 4.4.3 [released 08 November 2022], 4.4.4 [released 02 December 2022], 4.4.5 [released 08 December 2022], 4.4.6 [released 14 December 2022], 4.4.7, [released 31 January 2023], 4.4.8 [released 7 February 2023], 4.4.9 [released 28 March 2023], and 4.4.10 [released 5 April 2023]

    New Features: 2
    Improvements: 4
Bug Fixes: 89 (give or take)

That's a significant amount of bugs fixes, most of them out in the earlier months following an update, and before you know it there's a new version out and the cycle starts over. To stay current with Bitwig is to be in a perpetual cycle of updates and bug fixes. This is why I stick with my working version for up to two years. It also saves me money and I can skip waiting for bug fixes. Unless of course I really really want one of the new toys but I'm pretty patient even for that because in the end I already have what I need to get the music done.

Before I update to version 5, because I want what it offers, I'll be waiting until the next version so I get most of those bugs out of the way. I'm about due for an update and there's a ton of goodies for me to explore when I do.

Changes in Bitwig Studio 5, Beta 4 [released 21 April 2023]

Phase Shift Direction can be set from the Inspector Panel, or by right-clicking on the module

    IMPROVEMENTS

Browser: Location filter now includes your Collections & Smart Collections, so those are readily available again
Browser: The Location filter is now sorted better, including user locations filed under their type (Sound Content, Music, and Plug-ins)

and a long list of bug fixes I'm not going paste here. Just thought these were worth mentioning. The browser is still a work in progress.

The new Segments feature is insane. Reminds me of Absynth.

BPM modulation is exactly the new feature I have been waiting for. I think it will allow me to generate even weirder sounds. Though I haven't tried the beta version yet.
Bitwig's free modulation brings chaos to the music.
Even mundane, boring plug-ins scream funny when you throw them into Bitwig and torture them with modulation. I can't wait for the official release.

Bitwig is awesome in general, although some things are missing: This sums up some of my own (future)wishes for Bitwig very well in the second half (long video!) For example the grid lines in arranger (minute 9) or the quantization and automation stuff (minute 25++). Although it seems many Bitwig users dont seem to miss the gridlines in arranger, lol

Changes in Bitwig Studio 5, Beta 13 [released 23 June 2023]
    NEW FEATURES
    • Transfer (Shaper) module: Now has a Unipolar Handling parameter for how negative input is dealt with. Options are:
      • Clip - just outputs the value set at input of zero
      • Reflect - mirrors the curve, letting you draw a symmetric shape from unipolar mode
    FIXES
    • Transfer (Shaper) Grid module: Now maps the input and output to match the bipolar/unipolar state of the device
      • This is a change to how unipolar cases were handled before; to restore the old behavior, add a Bi → Uni (Level) module before the Transfer
    • Note Delay (Note FX) device: Fixed an issue where it was not reactivating properly [32863]
    • Fixed a potential engine crash after an error on reload of the audio device [32944]
    • Fixed an issue where transients of audio playback could be consumed by delay compensation (regression since beta 9) [32949]
    • Various browser fixes:
      • Pop-up Browser now regains focus when clicking into one of its gray window areas [32871]
      • Restored the close button (X) to the Pop-up Browser when on the All Sources page [32865]
      • Note Clip browser: Clicking on the Note Clip source icon should not change sources [32866]
      • Don't show Update Location (previously called Rescan Location) function in the Browser Settings submenu unless file-system monitoring has been turned off for that location, as it would have no effect
    • Fix crash when opening specific projects [32954]
    • Fixed an assortment of random engine crashes
    • Curve modulators and modules now have a help entry for their browse (folder) buttons
Changes in Bitwig Studio 5, Beta 12 [released 20 June 2023]

    • Browser preview was often silent when cursoring though samples [32844]

    • macOS: Newly saved presets now appear in the browser immediately (a regression in beta 11)
    • MIDI files in sound content locations are being shown (a regression from beta v4.4) [32842]
    • Segments (Envelope) Grid module: Now always starts from 0 zero when receiving a high gate signal [32891]
    • MIDI Program Change (MIDI) device: Automation now works again when routing between different tracks (a regression) [32930]
    • Rectangular selection of automation points was loosing points as they scrolled offscreen (a regression)
    • Copy/paste clip or time selection was always including automation, even when Automation Follows Clip Editing was deactivated [32929]
    • Fixed a rare crash when indexing filenames containing huge numbers (>18 digits) [32630]
    • Clips saved while using manual mappings of device parameters can be selected without crashing the app [30786]
    • Old projects that were saved with modules modulating themselves would crash when converting the module to another kind [30270]

    • Fixed a crash with the browser and preset discovery [32330]
    • The history of last remote controlled track / device was lost when switching tracks (a regression)
