    Hi
I need a help. I am thinking of buying Bitwig. they are currently- 79(essential), 149(producer), full(299).
Looking at the feature differences, essentials(79) seems fine for me. instruments and effects limitations, i dont mind.
My main doubt is about - "4/8 audio i/o busses"
I couldnt understand this? So if anyone knows please help. Is it related to send track or something?
Because send tracks are one of the main reasons why i want to buy bitwig. These things are pretty messy in my current daws- reaper and fl studio.
Also let me know if there are any limitation in regard to mixing functionality. I couldnt find much on website.
    Thanks.

Probably in/out from your audio interface.

Not really, just looking at the list, you will probably miss out on some of the containers, but at this point you got used to not working with them anyways, nothing that will impact mixing in a big way, but one can argue that those things are what makes difference in first place.

Here's the link to the version comparison again: www.bitwig.com/de/feature-list/
With the Essential version, you can load all external VSTi and VST instruments.
Mixing and mastering are definitely possible with the Essential function.

You can, of course, upgrade to the next version at any time for an additional fee.

    Thanks @PulseWave and @Melodic Reality

yeah, that vst multiout limitation is a problem.

The container and modulation stuff are fantastic. I am more into a simpler production workflow. I have also come to realize that most synths, drum plugins and sample libraries these days are already in very good shape. They dont need much processing. Just a little bit on busses and some sends work very well for me.

Thanks. Bitwig Producer it will be then.:like:

Yeah, good call, also kinda "modest" user since Bitwig 1 and pretty much Producer would be enough for myself too, great version for people who aren't into modulators/Grid/etc and rely mostly on 3rd party plugins.

    Welcome to the family :mates:

Ah, man, even when I'm not having a sound design session (meaning when I'm mixing or producing with mostly VSTs) the modulators are SOOOO helpful !

The way you can sidechain anything with anything in two mouse clicks alone is enough to make it the main mixing DAW, but not everyone agrees with me :dunno:

Not everyone, but majority probably agrees, there's amazing potential to harvest there and when I see what some folks are doing, feel kinda bad for not experimenting more and staying stuck in my comfort zone, missing on potential solutions that might open doors/result in much better workflow and outcome.

Guess it's time for me to sit down and learn Bitwig again, with empty state of mind, I'm on a few months sick leave and it's perfect opportunity to really get into software I absolutely love. I barely scratched the surface of it and I'm missing so much shoehorning myself into my old habits, staying unaware of potential solutions and workflow that probably outperforms everything I got used to before.

I keep telling myself to start doing this for years, but whenever I sit down, just get locked in on things I know and do stuff that feel natural at that point, even if I saw some Polarity video, I'm just going to do thing I'm most comfortable with and keep the flow going, so yeah, I need to get out of it at this point for sure, benefits are probably worth it.

Really looking forward to giving the new features a whirl, but, unfortunately Beta versions 5-9 of Bitwig 6 crash to the desktop frequently on offline studio PC yet fine on my laptop. V 5.2 works fine and pretty stable on studio PC.. Win 11 Pro, Ryzen 7, 32gb RAM.

    The power of habit.

You have to outsmart yourself a little; perhaps a note placed somewhere visible will help.
"Today I will learn Chapter 1" or "Today I will look at Chapter 2 of the manual."

First read the chapter, then apply what you've learned in Bitwig, 15 to 30 minutes
every day, and by the end of your illness, you'll be where you wanted to be.

    Get well soon!

Just buy the producer version, because i can only imagine at some point or maybe you didn't realize it...VST multi-out and audio comping are probably something you don't want to leave out. But other than that the essential is pretty good especially if you're just a songwriter.

you get a discount upgrade price, i'd try and see what kind of trickery i could pull using the holidays.

I haven't had a single crash since Beta 1 and I supplied the files to Thotand for these releases. That's something on your end, I'd guess it's a certain plugin with 80% certainty unless you message me back and say the pc and laptop are clones and identical setup.

    Thanks brother! :mates:

Yeah, I'm gonna start from v2 and work my way up, kept using Bitwig pretty much the same since v1, good thing is that I'm comfortable with it and everything will just fall in place naturally. When I look back when I started with it, it was more like how to do stuff from Logic in it then actually embracing what I was given... luckily for me, there's so much stuff these days, tutorials, You Tube channels, amazing Nate/Protoculture, it will be fun.
