I guess Avid is their Business Mentor. $169 to upgrade and only get 12 months of upgrades aka Fixes? LOL Terrible just terrible business model.

New business model, created like any addictive one.
Supposed to be a no-brainer, but a lot of ppl are going to think twice...

For almost that "annual price" (189€), you can get an FL Studio Producer Edition...with LIFETIME UPDATE.

Ableton just needs to buy them out and steal their modulation plugs

I would wholeheartedly get behind this movement.
While they're at it, implement the same bridging system, arranger/GUI customization and Linux support and they could almost call it good for Live 10.

    @Pinkman
But knowing the history of how bitwig came about they would probably sink the ship before selling out (back) to ableton.

I agree with the above. Bitwig just...isn't there yet and I'm not sure they ever will. If Ableton bought Bitwig and properly merged the two together to make something that was 75% Ableton and 25% Bitwig, it would make for a great Live 10.

I'd love for SOME features of Bitwig to make it over to Ableton, like it's super small space, multiple VST folders, not crashing when a plugin fails to load, etc, in a package that was familiar and mostly Ableton.

Don't know what everyone is complaining about. they have done a shit load in a very short time. The first DAW to have integrated modulators straight out of the box without having to deal with dodgy max plugins. And they got the plug in delay compensation right from version 1! something ableton still hasnt fixed. Comparing it to ableton is pointless anyways bitwig is more focused on a linear workflow than a live one. and if you ask me it serves its purpose perfectly well. tell me wheres the bounce option on Ableton? no, freeze and flattening doesnt count... see any one can make comparisons..

We are spoilt with choice with Features and Plugins, everyone has there opinions but at the end of the day they all do the same thing, make music. sure bitwig isnt perfect, but no DAW is, cant we give credit where it is due?

Why doesn't resample, or freeze and flatten, or freeze and Drag on to another audio track count? it's all the same thing right? Even FL Studios insane workaround for bouncing is still a bounce By Any Other Name.

On a different subject how the hell does voice recognition figure out what words to capitalize? I sure as hell can't figure it out lol

Since we are making bets about the future life of Bitwig Inc

I predict that they try to get as much cashflow in as possible to appear valuable to a company buyer.

So whilst they appear to be profitable, they will try to sell. I bet on it.

Maybe sell to Microsoft as they kissed ass there before, but they would be happy for anyone but ableton to give them security again

dont think they want to sell ever, i mean obviously they love coding audio software and they want to stay independent.
Also thats what we have seen, the u-he coupon, etc was partnering to get together a bigger market, its done everywhere in the business, even ableton partnered in 2006 for example with E-Mu and others, to get people a lite version of ableton, thats where i first met ableton.

I know the price for subscription based software is still insane, but it will be the future and im sure if more people go for bitwig, they could even reduce the price for the sub. i am sure they will do.

freeze and flattern is all i need, bounce is crap.

the only thing, which bugs me for ableton is the use of max. i agree they did that right and it works without big problems, also vst3 fast integrated, while ableton still hasnt it. Hey i worked around almost everything, which bugged me in ableton, arent we in love doing things like that in way?

the problem with giving people what they want is, that they will always find something they dont have it. so now people have modulators, vst3, etc here and again the calling for not have this and that starts again.

wondering when ableton will surprise us with something new as bitwig has now here?
