I'm intrigued after R2R clearly being upset about people pinching their releases....

The Bitwig 2.2 labelled as 'IND', apparently appeared a day after a poster had uploaded their cracked version to 'another site'.

I don't know anything about IND, but wondered why the original cracker wasn't credited.
It could be a coincidence, although I would think that said cracker would be able to tell if it was his work or not.

It may not matter hugely of course. I don't know. I thought the scene and more flexible offshoots would encourage credit where credit is due - particularly given that Bitwig 2 has been uncracked until now.

    Thoughts?

R2R has never released any crack for Bitwig Studio v1 & v2. I don't know if R2R deals with JAVA based security or not. This Bitwig Release has nothing related to R2R.

It says TEAM iND beneath the release. It's blunt.. that's where the credit goes. Why try to venture into some skeptical shit?

iND is not a group, it stands for "independent" ,a tag often used for 1 off releases or when someone(s) does not want credit as he/she may want to stay anonymous, you can find iND tags for all kinds of different stuff go back easily 15 years

i saw 2 fixes. one to fix the linux exporting of files and 1 to fix the downloading of content. I think there were more than 1 group or person involved. I credit the people who all worked on this to get it working for everyone. Thanks for helping Bitwig get some recognition as it will no doubt make more money now that it has been cracked.

OMG , did robin hood put his name on the money he gave to the poor? stop this bullshit please.
if they want credit they will make sure they will make a visible "cracked by credit " on the installer

i would say thank you on all the 10's of people who daily program to create this awesome software, if they were not there ... no crackers had anything to even crack..... get a life

ankit - I was not suggesting R2R had anything to do with this. I was referring to when they suggested they didn't like Symlink/other releases and the view seemed to be that credit should be given where credit is due

What intrigued me was that a poster turned up asking if the 'IND' release was his from a tracker.
It looks rather like it was, so I was asking whether the release was stolen and uncredited

'iND is not a group, it stands for "independent" ,a tag often used for 1 off releases or when someone(s) does not want credit as he/she may want to stay anonymous, you can find iND tags for all kinds of different stuff go back easily 15 years'

Thanks Mykal. I wondered, but wasn't sure. The apparent cracking poster didn't appear to have given it to audioz.

    nobodyspecial - you are misunderstanding
'if they want credit they will make sure they will make a visible "cracked by credit " on the installer'
Not if someone takes their release from a tracker and relabels it, clearly
The poster who claimed to be the cracker did not ask for credit and certainly didnt get any

dbmuzik - 'It says TEAM iND beneath the release. It's blunt.. that's where the credit goes. Why try to venture into some skeptical shit?'

As I say, hardly 'skeptikal shit' - a poster pointed out that he had released it on a tracker ahead of it coming on here.
As such, your statement appears wrong.

My point was not to ask whether stealing off pirates is ok - general consensus regarding respect for groups like R2R seems to be that credit should be given
As such, I was just wondering about the process and whether releases are taken off trackers and labelled as 'IND'

The reason this is important, is we generally should aim to have the best possible idea of the source of things
It surprised me to see a cracker find their release had turned up on here (assuming iND release was the same one)

It's an anonymous "person" or "group". That's the point. The majority don't know who they're thanking/giving credit to directly even when a popular name is tagged. "Thanks iND" suffices the same to-whom-it-may-concern as far as credit goes.

You are ridiculous, and in a nutshell saying you're skeptical team "iND" may have assumed credit for the work of team "a poster" on another site. Just crazy.

i still stay by the point that only the original programmers of a program should be credited, thanks for people to do this cracking but is it so necessary for having "credits "in an illegal scene

sure, that is a separate issue. I was working within the hypothetical scenario in which one assumes that there are some sort of scene rules, even in non scene aspects

I agree, he didn't seem to care. Who is making drama, I'm not. I was simply intrigued.
However, I have come to trust the sister site and clearly, if people take random releases off other sites and relabel them, that could be of a concern.

Given that a poster turned up and suggested it was his release, he likely didn't know it was on here.
As such, it was therefore probably taken off the tracker, given the iND tag and uploaded to the sister site
That hardly sounds crazy or ridiculous.

There you go again with "a poster". Why do you even give a shit? You act like you're trying to get to the bottom if "iND" is "a poster's" release. What's the difference and the concern to you? Your thread topic should be something like "Bitwig 2.2 review" and it might actually become useful.

It's the guy from russian tracker community. It was released there first and after few hours it was posted on AZ. What's the problem?

Exactly!! That should have been a dead give away, The same "read me" ,new updated patch in the thread(same person that posted on AZ to begin with) and all the comments pretty much point in the direction of who did this. He btw did indeed tag the release properly by using the iND tag, anybody that had been around the scene for awhile knows this!! Not sure what the point of this thread is, even a blind person could have seen all of that and figured it out

whats the point of this thread again?? And why is this on a public forum ,open for anybody to see?? Take these kind of questions to the comment section of the release. Posting questions about a warez release on a public forum only draws attention that is not needed.

    much appreciated.
i bought bitwig a few weeks after it was released in 2014.
i choose it over ableton because of the promised advanced modulation options that were "coming soon" from day one of it's release.
over two years they hadn't accomplished what they had promised, but they wanted more money.
they just changed there business plan to fuck you all pay me.
if the company were transparent about from the beginning it wouldn't be so disappointing, but this release has rewarded the early contributors.
thanks anyone who worked on this, these pricks deserved it.
to those who fight the good fight thank you.
to bitwig i say screw you.
the program has been unstable for the last 2 plus years.
it still is buggy as hell
plus their lack of honesty and full disclosure is deplorable.
