What I can't understand is why such an absolutely poor synth like Hypersonic is more important than Cubase 8? But hey, to each his own... AIR [not the cracking group - notice no "i" but "I"] are makers of Hypersonic and they have a new synth now that contains all the same samples from Hypersonic plus new ones. I can't remember its name, though.

Seriously, i don't buy the "friend" story. it's a way of deflecting your own responsability. And all your wrath only shows you're the one concerned and only you.

That said. In a more constructive way. And as you have NOT provided any screenshot for us to help.

I use Cubase 8.5 pro and a bunch of older synths from steinberg including hypersonic. Never had a problem.

My guess is that your patch has messed up some info related to the clock to which any licenser hardware based AND software based like the e-licenser is very sensitive too.

There is no conspiracy here. The soft e-licenser part is located somewhere on your drive and it's gonna be extremely difficult to locate where as you don't have any complete snapshot of your drive to compare before and after.

Your best chance is to reinstall everything clean and to stay away from messing up with your clock especially if you have legal steinberg stuff.

This are extremely serious accusation, you know, if your "friend" has proof that we Steinberg as a company are using our anti-copy protection software to spy on customers he should pursue legal action! Because that clearly (for starters) violates privacy protection laws in Germany and in the EU, which is quite serious, on the other hand I can tell you the
eLicenser Control Center does not spy on you.

What is happening is that the dongle emulation that your "friend" has installed for Hypersonic, is conflicting with the eLicenser Control Center installed with Cubase Pro 8, thats it, one is trying to work and the other one is trying to disable it.
Besides why use Hypersonic, when HALion Sonic has the same sounds as Hypersonic and is even more powerful...

In conclusion you have no idea what you are talking about.

As an American, this doesn't surprise me one bit - considering you can't even take a 2 minute shit in the restrooms without the NSA watching you with gigapixel surveillance cameras. Until Steinberg (or in your case, "Steindig" - whoever the fuck that is) can beat that one, this isn't a subject worth complaining about. Go make some music, people.

Specially in Germany the privacy protection laws are so strong that google street view had to enable an option where you can select to blur your house or building. Also, we don't have that technology, spy on you... it really makes me laugh. Also, we have nothing to do with Pace, or Waves or any other company, if you have Warez software from other developers, the eLicenser Control Center will not even know is there and definitively will not make it crash.

I have to agree with this article since I know for a fact that when you are running a trial version it contact's steinberg web server or elicense server to tell it how many times you have run the trial. Me personally, I have move on to reaper.
I still own Cubase 8 but hate the load it puts on my computer just running it. I wish I could get a refund.
It's not worth the $500 I paid, to me.

Now before you slam me that is just my option.

AiR soft e-licencer generator generate and install licenses on your dongle (or your HD if you don't have any dongle) which are virtually undistinguishable from the legit licenses generated by Steinberg e-licenser server (remember the famous joke from AiR: "To Steinberg: good luck with your server."). We can therefore say these licenses are "real" and doesn't interfere with legit licences, so you can use legit and non-legit apps together.
AiR's Syncrosoft emulator supplied with Cubase 5, Nexus, etc. which is installed on your HD doesn't conflict with any soft or dongle protected legit app because its file name is different than the real deal.
