Putting some things on the floor and on the walls just to eliminate hard surfaces can make a huge difference in my experience, try making a mess with soft materials if it is important.

 

good mic + good preamp + compressor + good quality A/D converters / DSP of your soundcard.

no effects or other BS that will alter the sound, because once it's recorded, you can't go back.

it's the basics, regardless of the quality gear you can afford. it goes without saying that the best noise-proof environment you can get, the better.

sort of mentioned before aside from a good singer ALWAYS closed back headphones for recoding vocals to reduce bleed into the mic. and make sure the singer gets enough playback so they can hear what they need to but not to loud that it bleeds. ( personally i like just my vocals a bit of drums and guitar for recording vocal tracks wich also helps not to bleed unwanted sound into. the mic)

Thank you guys for your input, seems like we all have different ways we record vocals and process it.

In my experience I noticed that different mics works for different singers and the mic cable or cables which are generally ignored can play a big role on the quality of your vocals.

If you can fill up your studio of you work from home in way that there's "echo" that makes a big difference.
