I understand you very well. You're convinced of what you're doing, and it's fine to stand up for your beliefs.
Since we also grant you freedom of speech, you should also understand the enemies of AI and grant them the right to free expression.
Please accept and respect other opinions; these days, almost everyone believes they're right and should convince others to use AI.

Wild this 1983 talk with Peter Gabriel and Ray Hammond about synthesizers mirrors today’s AI in music debates.

Same fears: tech replacing musicians, killing craft, lowering the barrier.

Hammond worried about machines doing repetitive work better than humans, like how AI now threatens session work or composition shortcuts.

Gabriel called synths dream machines, tools to unlock more instinct, intuition, and creativity. He believed tech pushes us to find what makes us human.

Same applies now in regards to AI. The gear changes, but soul, message, and feel still decide what lives on.

If you understand me so well then you can see Im not trying to convince anyone to use AI or not. Im just sharing how I use it. Go look at my posts. Ive said multiple times that people should use whatever works for them to make music. I also explain how I use all kinds of tools in my workflow.

This thread is focused on AI so naturally my responses reflect that. I’ve got deep knowledge using and building a lot of these tools. Im not here to push anything. But if someone wants a real perspective on it, they should actually use it and share feedback from that place. The responses Im getting feel like they’re coming from people who haven’t explored it deeply enough. A lot of the criticism I see comes from a place of non-exploration, not experience.

Those two sentences are exactly what it's all about! Just try to respect and accept other opinions. I understand that you're very committed and convinced, and there's nothing wrong with that, but be more tolerant of those who think differently. Every person should be free and be able to make their own decisions, whether they're right or wrong.

Whether they say anything or not, ultimately producers and manufacturers decide whether to produce and market
a product, and the consumer decides whether it provides added value and whether to spend money on it.

The customer or consumer will decide whether AI products will endure. If there is a market for them, we will see products.
If no one needs or buys the products, they will disappear from the market.

There are as many opinions as there are people in the world. But if everyone has a different opinion, how can we get along well with each other?

The magic word here is tolerance!

Tolerance means accepting other viewpoints and ways of life and allowing other opinions to exist. Practicing tolerance in a democracy doesn't just mean tolerating other views, but also approaching one another and getting to know other opinions. It means putting ourselves in the shoes of others and being understanding. Only then can we understand others and reject or accept a different opinion.

It's important to be interested in others and not to consider someone better or worse just because they have a different opinion. It's actually quite exciting to get to know other people's viewpoints, ways of life, and opinions, because new impressions and experiences can greatly enrich our own lives!

That's what happened in a way. The 80s were the age of beat boxes and synthpop, with midi replacing bands.

The thing is (and I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, it's just a thing) the tools Peter Gabriel were talking about still required somebody to invest some time and energy into learning the craft to get good results which would separate the wheat from the chaff somewhat, whereas theoretically AI will allow any idiot to get the same type of results which means, just like music is getting to be, the background noise of 7 billion people all doing things with it is going to get untenable.

I totally agree with the idea of tolerance. That’s why I always have said people should use whatever tools work for them to make music. I’ve been making music w/o ai for over 30 years with a 20 year career. Im not here to push AI on anyone.

When I share how I use AI or respond to someone questioning my approach, Im just giving my perspective. I have the ability to counter from my experience, and I’m backing it up with real-world examples, links, and music to give context.

It seems like you’re reading my responses as if Im angry or unwilling to see someone else’s point of view. I do see it. But I also have my own perspective, based on actually using the tools, and Im adding that to the conversation. That’s part of what healthy dialogue looks like.

Hi @curtified, now we're having a true dialogue where both sides can express their opinions and listen to each other, even if we disagree.

that’s what was happening before. Im confused?

you’re framing it like I was attacking others with my responses? When they were just me sharing my perspective.

I agree. Moores law is still climbing. Those paved the way for modern daws, vsts, created new genres and ways of making music.

I’m thinking this ai chapter is just the next step along the way. With similar debates around it.

I could see that happening. The take away I had was. Tech pushes us to find what makes us human. Same applies now. The gear changes, but soul, message, and feel still decide what lives on.

We try to apply new tech to the industry of today but we don’t envision the industry of tomorrow.

That's exactly what I mean by intolerant, and I can't accept other opinions alongside my own. Now you're also working with insinuations and assumptions. I'll sign you up for a communications seminar, focusing on freedom of expression and conflict management.

Thx for the video. The thread is being brought back to its original subject of AI (artificial stupidity) after drifting into analysis of human interpretation of emotion. Noticeable tone shift compared to previous posts.

Feel free to share your tolerance-worded viewpoints on any of the ideas brought to the table. I’ll continue doing the same, as I have throughout this thread.
