Rooster Jizz is what my grandmother used to use and it can't be beat. If it was good enuf for her then it's good enough for me.

I've been using Arctic Silver for many years only to find out that both cheaper Arctic MX-2 and MX-4 do the job better and last longer.

Anything works, you can get 2-3 degrees better by buying a $20 more expensive one, just get whatever and don't worry about it.

Arctic Silver 5 is a well established brand and trusted paste.

I use a liquid metal for the CPU from Coollaboratory called Liquid Ultra.

I can't find that at Amazon. But I am not calling into question its quality.

You can't buy it on Amazon, the only real way is to get it directly from the source. Fresh from the rooster is best, but next day is also ok. If you get it from someone that you don't know, the way to test it for freshness is by tasting it. If it tastes like halavah it's all good. If it tastes like anything else then it is not fresh enough and its thermal properties will fall below specification.

Arctic Silver here. Never had any issues. Good stuff for heat transfer.

Learned that the VERY EXTREMELY hard way

This thread is very interesting because I'm outdated in modern thermal paste and the next toy I'm gonna install in my PC is a liquid cooling system.

Only last year did i finally disassemble my old XP machine with an original Corsair H50 Cooler.
The CPU was the fastest i could get for that Mobo (NON-OC) and hot. But for many years the cooler worked well.
The newer ones are much improved and yet still simple, with most cases providing better potential.

OK, I will take that to mean I won't need to avail myself of the black-market sources. Brings a new meaning to "It's all a matter of taste".

Since 2014 I migrated to Gelid GC Extreme. A bit better than Shin Etsu.
But if you want the ultimate, go for Liquid Ultra. But only for copper or nickel contact plates. Don't use it on aluminium.
It's rather vile stuff and gets into anything. But for older/less important builds, why not. Easily 12°C below Gelid or AS

That's the thing. Since I bought my mobo/CPU liquid cooling has gone a long way. Not to mention now they're designed for even hotter modern CPUs so I will probably have a hell of a wild party OCing.
And I'll take out a couple of fans, my PC seems a f*ing hellicopter...
