I use kiloHearts Tape Stop a lot on hip hop tracks, sounds even better with a slight delay on top

    Render to audio. Pitch envelope.

If you're like me and 90% of your work is done in Logic Pro X, then just use this method. No plugin needed, and it's quick and simple.

Or you can use Vengeance's Tapestop, or the StudiolinkedVST version of it. Other than that, the ones above are even doper than the ones I mentioned. And you can get them for free someplace which I think you can figure out.

Manual pitching as plugin using with automation. Offline pitching with rendered audio - Izotope RX for example.
All posted above plugins and aps.
For better highs to be pitched down while tape stop, try higher sample rates. Ultrasonic range becomes audible, because pitched down into audible area. 44100 Hz has less highs, so it will be less bright. Also depends on material and what you want to achieve. Also depends on algorithms quality

Yp, almost all of them are mentioned in the above posts. And if that doesn't work for you - just go for the real thing. You get all sorts of FX as a bonus..

I used to use gross beat a lot. but it was a pain getting it setup just right. Good for ending a song, but try to pitch just a word for censoring or just a beat and you'll spend a lot of time getting it right. Then I found a max device for ableton called pitchdown and its great but then you have to load max for one plug..
Nowadays Ive been using the tape module in Glitch2. I find it sounds the best out of the ones I mentioned and its easy to dial in what I want just automating the power button on and off once I draw in the effect block and adjust the time/beats. I never tried the kilohertz or Timeshaper ones though.
Abbey road vinyl? Can you adjust the speed of the table brake? By time or meter. Say I need a 1/4 note brake effect.
Ive also just automated the pitch envelopes of a sample but sometimes I want to do the master bus or a group, or a live synth. Sure I could render out a bit and then automate it plus delete/mute all the tracks for the spin down part, but.......

dblue tape stop has been the most effective for me. Automate the trigger and adjust the speed as needed. Pretty straight forward.

kHs TapeStop. It has stop time, start time, curve and play/stop trigger, just what I need without overcomplicating such a simple task.
it's available as 32/64 bit plugin
