Hi everyone, how are you?

Well, I've been using Allavsoft to download full albums from Spotify for quite a while, but it simply stopped working a few days ago.

I don't know, probably Spotify has changed their code to inhibit this kind of practice.

If any of you have the habit of using software to download from Spotify, could you please confirm if it's working? Who knows...Maybe it's something on my side here.

Also, which software have you been using for this? Any recommendations?

without the premium you might as well dl from youtube and get probably around the same quality.

320kbps in premium could be worth if you turn it into flac, but also beware because we really dont know how much truth there is to these programs promises, how they really process the files and neither do we really know much about many of files spotify uses as source material all the time

it all really depends what the goal with the files is. if its for an "audiophile" experience or just getting your hands on a hard to find file.

regarding quality i appreciate the both "extremes", i use flac for listening experience, for playing out, for editing/reference etc.

but if a track is hard to find and i just want to have it, mostly old school stuff, i feel fine with even a 128kbps mp3 in my collection, but then all i really care of the emotional motive of the lyrics etc, folklore and similar stuff

Sorry to interrupt you in your alternative reality but NONE of these spotify converters remove DRM and the word "lossless" should never be mentioned in regards to Spotify.
These converters grab the audio through a virtual cable while being played and save it as whatever format they offer but nothing to do with removing DRM...
And you can't be sure which one steals your premium account login, if not all of them do.
During a period of time (a week), after trying some of these I got several alerts from Spotify that someone logged in with my account from very far and bizarre countries. I had to change my password and never used these programs again.

 

I just checked Streamliner plugin from Pluginalliance.
Spotify source format is 320kbits Ogg Vorbis
Deezer is FLAC
So i will stick to Deemix and Deezloader

and after nearly two years of using it, i must add that sometimes Deemix (formerly DeezloaderRemix) sometimes downloads a 320 kbits mp3 when the source is not available in FLAC. It happens. Rarely but still worth mentioning...

 

Use Deemix for Deezloader. Better GUI and source quality. My 2 cents

 

In free mode, Deezer streams in 128k, So how can you have a flac from them? Do you pay the HiFi subscription?

 

No need to pay, deezer has weak protection than spotify so you can download flac even free account.

For those who have not yet worked with ِDeezer (Wikipedia) and want to know how to attack it, watching this video is recommended. You can download more than 50 million songs for free:

Actually yes: it happens (very sporadically) to have an mp3 file instead of a flac, but I guess it is not a Deezmix bug, it seems as if the best resolution is missing on Deezer, so the app looks for the highest bitrate available version of mp3
In fact, in the Deezmix settings there is an option called "bitrate fallback"

 

I just tried it, as well, and it works, indeed. However, most songs that are grayed out on Spotify, are unavailable on Deezer, too.
And I downloaded a song that seems a broken flac, the second half of the song doesn't play. If someone wants to check: Greenhouse by Yellowjackets
We're in the end of 2020 and amazingly none of these streaming services have come close to the variety of songs that you would find on Napster 20 years ago.

What I really dislike in Deezer, after a quick check, is that it's structure is a mess, there are playlists from other streaming services appearing among the results but obviously you can't play them because those aren't on Deezer. I don't get it what's the point showing it?
