    Evening,

I have a few but the one I most use is D16 Group's Nepheton,

Upon saying that the hand-clap is not crisp enough compared to
the original 808, Also the cowbell seems a little dull, I Guess
one could load the single hits as WAV's at 48khz/32bit into a
VSTi drum machine but Nepheton dose have a nice feel including
    MIDI learn,

I suppose I should of kept my 808 when I had one back in the 80'S.

    Cheers,

    Fat Bob

I dunno what to say, D16 has a very warm sound, imo the best vsti ive come across for the job. Its kicks sound amazing when run through a gain unit (PSP Vintage Warmer )
Cant recommend any other vsti, others probably can, but you should check out Goldbaby samples, they do an 808 pack and its great. They run the samples through various analog gear, as well as providing "clean" versions from an 808.

Ive never used the hardware 808 so I cant base what ive said off of a comparison, but check out Goldbaby... you wont be disappointed :mates:

    AudioRealism DrumMachine :
    Code:
    http://www.audiorealism.se
Good sounding too and you'll have 808, 909, 606 all in one.
It can also load your own .wav and .aiff samples into the drum parts - that's a real plus. (Yeah Goldbaby rocks !) =>
    Code:
    http://www.goldbaby.co.nz/superanalog808.html
    Code:
    http://www.goldbaby.co.nz/tape808.html
You can DL latest version on the dev's website (v1.2.1) and unlock with AiR's keygen from :
    AudioRealism.DrumMachine.VSTi.v1.2.0.Incl.Keygen
    Worth the try.

    Old thread, i know, but anyhow;

Best 808 (IMHO of course) if you dont want to go emulation: AddictiveDrums ReelMachines.

Extremely good basic samples (taken from the original 808 and recorded on tape - might be from GoldBaby) which can then be 'customized' via the Pitch and Volume modifiers as well as various FX.

That way you practically have endless possibilities with regards to shaping the individual drums. Be prepared to apply some EQing, though, especially in the treble range.

ReelMachines also includes LinnDrum, DMX, Simmons SDS-V, 909. (My personal fav is the DMX set. Its simply awesome.)

Also not bad, though clearly only second choice: EZdrummer EZX_Electronic via Beatstation. (808 and many other E-Sets.)

Sounds way better than in EZd or Superior (largely due to the default FX on the Beatstation) and can be fully customized and even mixed with other sets.

    Also comes with 808 grooves.

Doesnt integrate as easily into a mix as ReelMachines, though. (Material/project dependent.)

hello, the best 808 emulation is the D16Group Nepheton vst which is not a sample box, but a real analog synthesizer emulated by the best program ever coded by D16's polish staff.

in this way, the nepheton 808 drum emulator reproduce with best quality sounds of the real 808 roland drummachine.

there is no better way at the moment.

    my bests.

    Fred.

ps. if your clap is not as good as the real, maybe u should tweak that sound ?
