    Hello all,

Would you please let me know what media browser you would recommend for organising a growing sound library and for fast preview of samples in various formats? I have tried MediaMonkey (not recently) but I wondered if you had suggestions for alternatives with a really clear interface for the organisationally-challenged (that's me, not you)? Or perhaps you prefer using your DAW's browsers? I am on Windows 10 64 bit.

I know it's a matter of personal taste in the end, but as always, I would value your comments and suggestions.

    Thank you

    rem

    Resonic Pro (now Beta).
IMO it's the best one, but each to their own.

Hmm . . . Resonic looks quite enticing! Does it do anything in regards to calculating and organizing samples based on key?

I would definitely buy a pro version though if it did that, however I really wish it supported the rex2 file format though since I recently reorganized my libraries and moved a lot of my wav files off my hdd.

69€ is a bit too much for what it is.

Oh shit, I know about keyfinder I just didn't realize it also wrote the metadata to the things. I tried using mixed in key before but it wouldn't show the metadata tags in sample librarian.

I have tried various Win and Mac WAV/OGG/RX2 players again and again, but finally stuck with Ableton because sliced loops will always play with the tempo of the current project, and that's a priceless feature a separate player won't offer. And I don't have to use separate apps, just a simple drag&drop on the same UI.
Most DAWs should support bpm-synced preview of loops in the file browser, Live and Logic Pro (X) definitely do.

It's the same for single-hit samples: Let's suppose you want to browse through 200 drum hits and pick the best ones. How would you do it?
In a DAW, I can just drag the best ones to sampler pads etc.
In a separate player I would have to do unnecessary additional steps like selecting/tagging/copying.
That's the main reason I don't use separate players for choosing samples or loops anymore.

Lets say you 100.000 Drum Hits or other recordings. Prelistening them in a DAW is just tedious and SLOW.

IMO the best workflow is to presort samples In a SoundBrowser and create favourite lists.
When you now make music you can use those lists which contain lets say 128 sounds instead of browsing through 100000 sounds. While browsing you could even extract just one sample from a boring loop for later usage, or prelisten Stems from earlier recording sessions, fiel- recordings etc.

I use AudioFinder to sort my sounds, tag them and create favourites and playback is without any delay, you even get a Waveform display.

    peace and love
