agree its not perfect but for me its working totally ok, it just looks confusing at first.

I did just what you did first time but it was just a matter of making a rule for your browsers exe,

make one new rule in outbound connections and one in incoming connections, both pointing towards the exe file you need with "allow" traffic. so with everything else you would need. should work

 

i have windows firewall control installed for fun...and it seems my microsoft telemetri blocking is missing entrys but my little firewall always call for block now if win7 or programs want call home

this is so easy...no work needed...if something call out you get message for block static , one time or let thru...when i do pre written block rule entrys i always will miss something but not this way..

 

GlassWire is a firewall that displays your pc incoming and outgoing network connection in real-time.

 

Be careful with Windows Firewall Control, since that adquisition (v5.4+) it sends data to Malwarebytes.
Not that many programs doesn't do it nowadays, but still...

Yeah there was some discussions I read about that, and at the time it looked like the data was pretty common marketing stuff, but who knows the future... The original developer has so far kept the website going for those who have his version. One thing i do NOT like is that to authorize his paid version (to enable notifications) you have to go to the website, paste in a code and get back a code.
I have had to do this a few times because it is due to Windows updates and I have it on 2 machines.
The changelog addresses this issue in the most current version (5.4.1.0), but i have stayed with 5.3.1.0 (before the Malwarebytes). I may try the new one, but hanging on to the old one just in case.
But i felt it was worth it for the cost and how much i like the interface. So far, so good...

...i used password yesterday and now its not working..must sent email...so when you lock windows firewall control you must send email to reset password cause youre pass is not working anymore on next day...
cool app but filthy tactics...damn i got no burner emails anymore

 

just set wrong default gateway in network settings and PC will be LAN-only without internet access

just wanted add rule for tag and rename app calling home , but i couldnt cause they changed my pass. i didn't forgot it..
i let it run like i adjusted it yesterday until fresh OS soon..cant de-install it...
on next restart i see if it bypass startmenu desable

how important you would rate the lock function at a firewall app?

 

+1 for Tiny Firewall. light and straightforward to use.
i like it more than Window's own ( which is ok i guess)..

 

to achieve Windows 10 usable for audio production
though, if you want to only prevent individual apps from accessing net, you can use Windows' firewall to define own rules already

I may have given the wrong impression. Because for instance I use Kaspersky (not the firewall, though) and for sure it sends data like any other major security software. BTW, there was months ago an interesting rumor about Kaspersky sending intelligence data from USA agencies, but I guess that's no concern to me lol.

It's just the times we live in. When you set to "no" all the collecting options in your program (take the same Kontakt for instance) there's still data collecting, not to mention the same Windows.

I always recommend Sordum "Firewall App Blocker". It's a small portable program. You launch it, set the options in Windows stock Firewall and close and forget it. Including whitelist mode and stuff, very handy.

tiny wall whitelist by window is good but wfc is much better..less clicks...

when you dont use password lock wfc is best....no windows no nothing get through without giving rule first in 1 click

 

If you got money and need for network sandboxing/isolation/firewall, this is probably the best bet, but maybe not for p2p, but studios definitely should look on to for remote access and such. Not free..
