    Boost is quite the opposite of a saturator, it's actually extremely allergic to saturation (unless you enable the "punch" option).

    I don't know if this has been mentioned but I really like the sound of Apogee SoftLimit. One of the best free plugins.

    All I've ever used is the clipper in TDR Limiter 6 on the master buss to good overall effect, but after going through this thread will experiment on individual elements to bring them to the fore when before I might have used combinations of automating different track's eq, volume and compression. This thread has been educational to me.
