I'm gonna change my stationary gaming machine for a PC laptop. Do you guys have any recommendation on a good affordable laptop for both games and DAW (Reaoer)? Regards from Sweden!!

dont get anything that is more expensive than a 1000 euros. monitor local second hand markets, and grab some cheap past generation laptop (with 2000 or 3000 series nvidia gpu, or 5000 6000 radeon rx). cpu's are almost all good there. your laptop wont live longer than 5 years anyway, they are all subjects of planned obsolescence, so there is completely no sense in buying an expensive laptop

then after you found some good option - run the model check on notebookcheck.net. then meet with the buyer and run a couple of stress tests for CPU, GPU and memory.

How many Serum instances will i7- 9750 will be able to take with Single Thread Rating of 2418? The benchmarks look weak on those laptops.

    ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 17 17.3" Gaming Laptop - AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX, 16 Core, 64GB, 2TB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090.
    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/186880732297
    £1999

I'd try and find one of these at a good price. It's a £3000 laptop brand new.

It's got the Ryzen 9 7945HX processor, it's faster and more efficient on power than any intel laptop CPU.

There is another variant of this laptop model that's a bit newer and has a Ryzen 9 7945HX3D processor, which is only a tiny bit faster than the 7945HX, and that's just over £3k new.

If you can find either of these at a good price, you will have a monster. It can handle a lot of plugins and tracks at a low audio buffer rate, it wouldn't break a sweat with your most complex project.

    Hey friends,
I'm also thinking about getting a small laptop for traveling. 14"
I have my PC at home. But I'll get to that soon.

What do you think of the new AMD "AI" processors?
The name is annoying, but I think the manufacturers are currently all focusing on performance and efficiency cores. As far as I know, FL Studio can handle it. Ryzen AI 9 365 or the 9 HX370.
I would like something light with a super touchpad. I tested the Macbook Pro with the M1 Pro. It wasn't for me. I have most of the software for Windows. You can forget about Parallels and other virtualization.

There are also problems with the Mac if you have a 1080P screen.
All in all, I would like to stick with Windows 11 Pro. There are already a few exciting models around €1200 from Lenovo, HP and Asus

True, but I would say as long as one goes for about 1300€ new, there is not much damage done.
But these 'Im gonna buy something decent for 2500 bucks' - buys... Absolutely, bad idea.

Laptops are not good for gaming even the gaming laptops its just a lie you wil never get the fps what you get on a desktop why are all the grapichs card in a desktop so big because of the heatsink and fans there is no way a laptop with a 4090 can performe as good as an desktop with a 4090 because of the heat you just can cool the grapichs card in such a small case

I would like to add the following: Laptops were invented because there was a need for them. They are portable devices for on the go. If you spend a lot of money, you will also get more power that is enough for making music on the go. Read reviews before you buy something or ask trustworthy people. The industry's biggest target group is gamers, not musicians.
