I am looking for an orchestral vst and found most of them have a huge file size. Some of them are 100GB or 500GB. How crazy!

I no longer have enough room in my hard drives for it and wanna keep it simple. Plus, it should be easy to use for noob and should provide lots of tutorials on Youtube.
Can you recommend one for me?
    Thanks in advance.

12GB, all the instruments including solo and ensemble, many articulations, scripted legato, vibrato control
Very good sound and actually usable for the final product.

Good ole' Edirol Orchestral, though it's not the most realistic.

If you're into Kontakt, Sonuscore The Orchestra is pretty good at 6GB.

These libraries are big, because they offer many velocity layers and articulations. Also: many different microphone positions.
Microphone positions can be cut, but different playing techniques can't be omitted.
Kontakt factory content is decent - it uses VSL and Chris Hein samples.

I'm not an expert by a long shot but this one's amazing.

This one also sounds interesting, and you can describe Sonuscore's almost identically.

There's a giant tutorial in Youtube about Sonuscore The Orchestra by an extremely skilled productor. Dirk Elbert or something, I can look when I have time.

Garritan Personal Orchestra and AIO Orchestra were the best for small sized libs, but then they switched to the proprietary sample player Aria (co-developed by Plogue). And like usually not only is difficult to develop one, but it pales in comparison to Kontakt.

Last time I checked, Garritan libs Aria version were very slow to load and perform compared to Kontakt. It's a real pity.

Instant Orchestra works very well for me, it's like a mini Symphobia, of course the samples are of lower quality due to their size, I don't have a problem with that :) sorry for my English

Perhaps the engine has improved since the last time I checked.

Roland VS SRX Orchestra is 222 mb, sounds really good:

You can go even lower than that with Roland (Edirol) Sound Canvas, you'll be surprised how far 24 mb can take you, see and hear for yourself:

Ok this is a Kontakt library, but it´s 1.7 Gb only so it could be one of your considerations?!?

Solid State Symphony is an orchestral
    simulation that also includes automated
features like a gated pad, two pitch-modulated
synth elements, simple bass and percussion
    sequencers, and chords.
It is meant to be played in real time, and
allows you to bring in the different sections
according to key velocity and range.
The "orchestra" sounds were modeled using
analogue synth waveforms. Use it to sketch
out compositions, or to add richness and
    power to your orchestral productions.

    Cheers

I'm testing it and it actually sounds and behaves very similar to Sonuscore's.
Even the names.. "Sonic Scores"... "SonuScore".. it's just me? (I'm not drunk or stoned FWIW lol)

This one is cool too. It isn't designed to sound like a realistic Orchestra but to prototype/sketch very fast and with minimal resources used. I'm currently testing it too. Like always, I do everything but music

With a 1.7 Gb Kontakt library you´re a "little" limited I agree, but if you dive into it you´ll be surprised what it can do for you!

Well said. I didn't explain myself properly before I think. This library isn't designed to sound exactly like a real orchestra (solid state stands for synth samples AFAIK). So you can use for:

    1. Very fast an easily prototype a real orchestra score and then, perhaps, do the detailed stuff with another one.
    2. But, of course, you can just use the library to do not realistic but still cool orchestral-like sounds. And I dig that a lot, because I don't aim to do realistic orchestra stuff, just some accompaniment for my rock/metal songs.

Well, I mean in some very not far future, in an ideal world, I'll have someday finished songs lol
