    Hi ppl,

Anybody knows which synth vsti have the best or good oscillators?
I don't ask for your favorite synth, top ten synths or if a synth sound good or not.
I only ask for the oscillators.

    Thanks!!

    hello, zukunft,

does it not depend on genre, style, instrument to emulate (heaps of other things), also on what you are looking for in them?

pureness, cleanness, dirtiness (before any filter processing), flexibility, there are lot of attributes you can be after... *yes*

could you be bit more specific with your question?

all the best (future) for you...

what is a "good/best" oscillator? define it.

this sounds really cool. a instrument from sampled oscillators:

i love the polykb too. you can morph between the oscillators.

Lol. Any synth that has square, sine, saw, noise, wavetable, waveshape, FM, hybrid, etc.

    1 Waldorf largo (extremely gritty)
2 arturia arp (nice warmth /perfect for basses)
3 Synth MAster http://www.kvraudio.com/product/2548 (It has numerous waveforms from some renown analog synths plus it is to the point in using but complex in terms of sound sculpting )
    4 diversion by Dmitry Sches

and there are loads of free ones like TAL-noisemaker

I'm not refer to quantities or types of waves have one vsti.
I'm searching for vsti not sampler. If samples depend from how it's sampled and the sampler engine.

I speak about aliasing, worst oscillators add additional harmonics. Doesn't sound any good.

Same sequence of notes, with sine wave (pure tone)

    hello, zukunft,

    i (begin to) see...

i think the instruments you have mentioned are purposefully so bad, designed to be such, for the styles, genres they are used.

if pure wave forms what you are after, try to synthesize them (every note, one by one) in sound forge (wave lab), play them through some sampler which does not add any colouring to them, ready... *yes*

i did this with the lowest couple of octaves in the audible spectrum, making (wonderful) sub bass sounds (i have added three different degrees of level weighting downwards the scale), it did the thing i needed (i have used ableton's sampler for this).

also i think the instruments based on frequency modulation are (must be) quite pure (fm7, fm8, operator, etc.), use only one operator without any self modulation, filtering, then it will be enough pure for any purpose.

here is the frequency table i have used (credits for creating the original are not mine)... *yes*
in my setup i gave note number 36 (instead of 60) for middle c (two octaves down), but it depends on your use (as i have mentioned, i needed sub bass sounds).

i hope this helps, all the best (also the best future)...

You can goo very deep by digging into fft charts, but in the end of the day what matters the most is the sound. I really love the sounds of PolyAna, for the it's the most analog sounding synth ever. Also Sylenth has great filters and filter drive which makes it also very good sounding.

    I love Ableton's Operator's OSCs I feel like they're pretty clear!

@ zukunft...What is the program you use for reading the aliasing?...very impressive.

    Hi Rolma,

you only need a Sonograph analyzer, on vst: Ozone 5, Nugen audio, Bluecat, Roger Nichols and others....

But the used here, it's standalone
SONIC VISUALIZER PC, MAC & LINUX.

    it's free :grooves:
