Is there any reason why you want it to be wav?
Upscaling doesnt work that way, im pretty sure you have to have a high quality source in the first place. So either buy a wav or flac in the track you want to remix in order to get a higher quality. If you need to convert it to make it easier to edit in a DAW use something like audacity and export the setting as 24 but wav. Please note that it wont upscale the quality, you cant polish a turd :D

I'm confronted with this problem a lot and i suggest you to convert to to wav with anything you have then process the file with Zynaptiq's Unfilter. This plugin is awesome and can bring back some harmonics that will be missing after upscaling. Check out this video by Mr BIll on the plugin, at some point he will talk about using Unfilter for such purposes:

easycdda converter aka EZ CD Audio converter (http://www.poikosoft.com/)

using since 2006 - add mp3 files to audio converter and it will convert it.

That's great advice that shouldn't be passed up. Thanks a lot.

Depending on where you got it...

buy the CD or the lossless download.
find the lossless rip on bittorrent or such.

If you wanna do a crappy job, just load it up SoundForge or whatever and export to wave. Ozone or fixing tools won't do any good to it anyway.

OMG this thread is making me cringe! Seriously? Convert mp3 to wav to get better quality? Lol... no. Converting mp3 to wav will sound identical to the original mp3.

As for unfilter, I doubt it'll make a difference as mp3's don't have much filtering in the first place. Some of the lower quality settings low pass but most of that is out of the audible range anyhow.

the problem is not the "quality", if the source file is poor the wav will be poor too
I asked it to avoid problems like introduce noises ecc ecc after conversion
I am not a Pro and maybe they are insignificant details, but it is always good to confront and hear what others think

Even though some MP3s are LQ, I have had some luck with Ozone's Exciter to mask some of the artefacts and add more HF.

Just load it on cubase and insert 3 sausage fattener. Crank it until it gets angry

mp3 = supercompress file. (Which means the file throw away a couple of data/quality in order to achieve a smaller size)

Like its been said before you can't go from low to higher resolution.

You'r best option is trying to get a better quality of the song. I doubt any converter would make any difference or increase the resolution.

one of the point of MP3 compression IS introducing noise on stuff you can hardly hear.
The concept the same on a JPEG picture or an MPEG video : on low setting , you'll see some squares instead of pixel in the background, on the non-moving parts.

Back in the days... it was common to stream some 64/96/(sometimes) 128 on webradios... You could here the cymbals turning into the intro of "My Name Is Skrillex".
I suppose you have better MP3 than this, 320kbps on a common listening environment (<1000$ system, in a basic non-treated bedroom, not too loud) won't make any difference to a CD (there's exceptions, such as very sparse/dynamic music, very treble-busy music with lot of tones (classical music)

If you are remixing, you will certainly :
1 - pitch stuffs up and down
2 - slow down , fasten up samples
3 - add some modulation effects
4 - do some agressive filtering (to "isolate" vocals for example)
5 - do some agressive compression/limiting (like you would do on any track of a mix of tunes where remixes apply (i suppose, edm, dub, electronica, ...)
    ...

the 3 first in this WILL bring the noises of the MP3 conversion back in the human ear domain in terms of frequencies.
the 2 last WILL bring this noises in term of loudness

You certainly won't use only one track... this problems will add up.

You'll run into a lot of troubles remixing with WAV files.
MP3 bring a lot more troubles.

On your ipod, at home, in a small club : MP3 is definitely OK.
In the studio, on big stage : WAV

dBpoweramp Music Converter Reference is very good for things like this.

But make sure there is some head room in your file before you convert or it will clip. ie 0.3 or 0.4
