I've been using Sony MDR-7520s for years now (travel with them too). You can find a pair on Reverb or Amazon.

Thanks for the suggestion, though as the DT880 Pro are sem-closed they wouldn't be suitable for close mic vocal work due to leakage.

If you test those out pls share your experience! I'm still on the hunt for the comfiest closed-backs (sound quality’s kinda second).
    Would appreciate it.

Will do, though I will go tomorrow instead of today as my daughter is to meet an old friend who is in the city for the day. Someone needs to stay at home with our old dog Marley lest he needs to go out and does nasty stuff in the house.

After decades on headphones, i found Sony and Beyer cans being more sturdy than anything else.
AKG was nightmare for the price : broken articulations, speakers HALF working ...
AudioTechnica : not enough experience. I have one working right. May be less sturdy than Beyer BUT better than AKG for sure.

To me, it's the Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO. And it's the only headphones I use without any correction because it's very close to the ideal curve I'm looking for.

    @Zenarcist ..

No, at his advanced years he'll now just do whatever he needs to do wherever he is at that moment...but he is named after Bob because as a young puppy he listened exclusively to Bob Marley and Jimmy Cliff, but when given the chance he didn't wish to be called Jimmy.

If you can find them, Sennheiser HD380 Pro are very comfortable and highly isolating. DT770 are great, but not as isolating.
These two are both very comfortable, durable, and you can wear them for hours without getting fatigued so much.

After listening to and sussing out the entire headphone wall of closed back cans have decided upon the Beyerdynamic 1770 Pro. The soundstage was wide enough for my liking, it was more comfortable to wear than the others, the seal around my ears was perfect even with my glasses on and the highs were present but seemingly softened. The bottom end was not as pronounced as perhaps the others were but that is not my taste anyway. For tracking these will be a welcome change and I anticipate perfect for my need. Also, the build quality is solid and they should last a good long while.

I command thee forth unto the quietude of my utility drawer...so fare thee well ATH-50X!

While on the tram going home...

Look at this grace and this perfect form, doesn't it look beautiful? Its cables carry no blood, but sound. And those sexy, black cables do their job without a rustle or crackle. The black ear cushions cradle the ears in softness and purity, as snug as soft goose feathers. The packaging resembles a suit of armor, protecting the contents from rain, snow, and storms.

I absolutely love HD380 Pro but they seem very hard to find these last few years and I always use them with EQ correction.

True! I even replaced the fixed cable with a 3,5mm socket. Super easy, barely an inconvenience!
You get all parts, you get different pads from different manufacturers for different tastes.
While I have headphones I like a little more, the DT770 still is one of my favorite and some sort of workhorse.
Where I live those are more or less a standard in most studios.

I use soulwit cooling gel ear pads for dt770 pro (got them from amazon). those isolate way more than the original ones and are more comfy. They do change the sound a little, but I prefer the way they sound now. Low fs seem to go a little deeper.
Thats what I love about them, you really can tinker with them because they are so widely spread.
