Cool! Open source stuff by a top team in the demo scene. Brings memories. This should be extremely light and fast, even with the Juce added VST and GUI support.

SITALA 1.0.0 x64 VSTi [FREE] (...finally out of BETA phase)
    released : 12 DEC 2020

    https://decomposer.de/sitala/

Decomposer has announced that, after three years of development, Sitala, a drum sampler for macOS, Windows and Linux, today reached its 1.0 release.

Sitala features 16 drum pads and an intuitive set of 6 controls: shape, two-octave tuning, volume, compression, tone and pan. By overloading each of its controls to sweep through a range of possibilities, Sitala keeps the control surface minimal while still allowing for a large range of sounds. The shape knob sweeps from everything from glitchy micro-house to pumping atmospheric sounds. The tone-knob single-handedly covers most of the territory that'd normally be achieved with a parametric EQ. Uniquely, each of its controls provides immediate visual feedback to see exactly what's being done to the sound in use.

With the 1.0 release, Decomposer has added lots of new features to round out the drum sampler.

Editable sample start and end points: Not only does Sitala allow editing the start and end points of samples, it also automatically detects poorly cut samples with leading silence and places the play head at the point where the sample starts, not just the point where the file starts.

Beat slicing: If you load a sound into Sitala that has multiple drum hits, it automatically finds their start and end points and lets you pick either individual drum hits, or to play the entire sample. You can even go one step further and slice each individual drum hit to its own pad so that each part of the loop can be triggered separately.

AAX version for Pro Tools: In addition to the currently supported Audio Unit and VST formats, this release of Sitala adds an AAX plugin for use in Pro Tools.

Automatic Multi-Out in REAPER: Sitala integrates with REAPER so that choosing multi-output mode in REAPER will automatically put Sitala into multi-out mode and keep the track names in sync. This makes it easy to add additional processing to each drum pad in Reaper.

So when we select 1 of the bass tones we can shape the 5 layers that make up that 1 bass tone to our liking by using the onboard GUI. REPLIK’S bass sounds range from slimy 808 type sounds to very futuristic type bass sounds. Equipped with onboard essential effects such as LFO, Filter, ADSR parameters for each layer, Pan & more!

RC-808-PLG: Analog Mafia releases free drum synthesizers
    News August 11, 2020
The Analog Mafia is a group of former Roland engineers who were involved in the development of many classics such as the TR-303, TR-808 and TR-909. Now the gentlemen present the free drum synthesizer RC-808-PLG, which is of course reminiscent of the legendary TR-808 drum computer.

The Japanese Jun-ichi Kadoya, Hisanori Matsuoka, Kyokazu Fujiwara, Tadao Kikumoto, Yoshiro Oe, Hiro Nakamura, Atsushi Hoshiai are all former employees of Roland . Since the 1970s, they have worked in hardware and software development on the company's most popular synthesizers and drum computers. What do such gentlemen do in their free time? Of course, what they do best: develop something new.

Some time ago, the men sat down and programmed a software drum computer that initially ran as standalone software. Unfortunately, the requirements were a bit tricky, whoever (especially on the Mac) is still using a not quite up-to-date OS was excluded from the RC-808. The plug-in that is now available overrides this restriction - the RC-808-PLG runs as a VST and audio unit on macOS and Windows.

    A free drum synthesizer
Because the gentlemen do not want to earn any money with the project and perhaps also do not seek stress with their previous employer, the download is free. Even if the look is reminiscent of the TR-808 , the capabilities of the plug-in go beyond those of the original. The synthesis can be compared more to that of the System-700 synthesizer. That means a wider range of possible sounds. Nevertheless, the plug-in specializes in Roland drums.

The operation is a bit idiosyncratic and after a short test run we recommend that you turn down the volume of the monitors before you experiment with the plug-in. The download is definitely worth it!

You can find the plug-in on the now officially set up website , which also offers more information about the Analog Mafia.

1.To turn it off just click app on icon tray and terminates it

    GREAT THREAD

Here is something cool from the completly free reaktor user libary :

Free Cloudlab 200t Buchla based modular instrument for Reaktor

Cloudlab 200t for Reaktor · Source: Robin Vincent

The Cloudlab 200t is an instrument for Native Instrument’s Reaktor inspired by the Buchla 200 modular system. Created by Trevor Gavilan after three years of work, it certainly looks the part. Trevor stresses that it’s not an official emulation, more of an instrument inspired by the sound and interface of those famous Buchla devices.

    Cloudlab 200t
If you own Reaktor 6 you can pop along to the online user library and download it now for free. To the uninitiated the front panel is authentically unintelligible. The default preset makes no sound, which adds greatly to the sense of “what the…. is this all about?” However, once you select a prewired preset your jaw will drop at the sheer sonic pleasure of the thing. I also really enjoy the verbose labelling in Buchla. a VCO in Eurorack becomes a “Convoluted Waveform Generator”, a random generator becomes a “Source of Confusion” and an envelope becomes an “Action Generator”.

In the introduction to the manual Trevor notes how although he’s not able to emulate the physicality of the Buchla, such an important element of working with it, he did his best to make the interface respond and work as closely to the real thing as possible. He hopes that his work will introduce more people to the Buchla workflow so that they will be less intimidated by it. Unlike other modular systems, which can be explored through trial and error, Buchla invites you to understand each module and get to grips with the different signal types they use before you can really appreciate what it does. With that in mind, the manual continues for 20 pages covering each module in depth.

This is a fantastic West coast synthesis learning experience.

    Lemur Control
But there’s more. In an attempt to bring a bit more of the hands-on control he’s also produced a Lemur control template for iPad. This gives you direct fingertip control over each individual module. It includes a touch-plate style keyboard and follows the colour palette of the Buchla modular. I should also say that Reaktor works well with single touch on any touch screen, Windows tablet or hybrid laptop.

Cloudlab 200t for Reaktor with Lemur

Thank you Trevor, what a great piece of work.

Cloudlab 200t is available now from the Reaktor User Library or directly from Trevor’s website where he is also accepting donations.

Cloudlab 200t Buchla based modular instrument for Reaktor reaches version 2
    Approximate reading time: 2 Minutes

A year after Trevor Gavilan first dazzled us with his stunning Cloudlab 200t Buchla emulation he’s now released version 2. It’s still free and one of the best ways to start experimenting with the Buchla method of synthesis.

    Cloudlab 200t V2
The instrument is based upon the Buchla 200 and 200e and programmed directly within Native Instruments Reaktor. The GUI, which is fabulous and gains some wooden cheeks this time around, is by David Frappaz and captures that Buchla look. But it’s not official or endorsed in any way.

To the uninitiated, it doesn’t make a whole load of sense to look at it. The default preset doesn’t seem to generate any sound and few controls are familiar if you are from a regular synthesizer background. But Trevor has included a small handful of presets which will get you moving forward. Although there’s nowhere near enough presets there is a bank of “Tutorial” ones which are super helpful. The first one simply gives you some tuned oscillators that you can play like a regular synth. After that you should browse through and start experimenting.

The sound is both crazy and delightful, harsh and soft, bubbly and brazen. Before you know it you are tweaking like an old bearded West Coast pro. I should also point out the excellent manual which goes into plenty of depth of every module, mode and aspect of this amazing machine.

    What’s new V2?
Lots of action under the hood means that the CPU load is less intense which keeps the experience more stable. There’s a Lemur MIDI out now so that is you are using the Lemur iPad app as a controller it now responds properly in real-time. It will now accept an external clock so it can be synchronised to your DAW. The 266t Chroniker also has a DAW clock output. The 266t Noise has been updated to be -3 Pink, Flat (Buchlesque) and +3 White noise. Additional modules are the 227t Output interface and the 248t Multiple Sequential Generator.

All-in-all a decent update to a remarkable Reaktor instrument that’s completely free to Reaktor 6 users although Trevor would very much appreciate (and deserves) your donations.
