Kush Silika is wonderful for extreme distorting but pleasant compression.Definetly one of the best in my opinion,with Arousor.
Arousor is more versatile but it can't be as aggressive as Silika.
I gave Softube Germanium compressor a try and I liked it too,FWIW.It has been very nice on my over heads.

I must test Pulsar Mu now,I hear so much positive reviews about it.Actually when I need a vari-mu compressor,I am used with SPL Iron.

 

But if you ask "what is the best screwdriver?" you are questioning the quality of design and build, which varies widely from something that is carefully engineered and would last your lifetime and 5x more lifetimes, VS a cheap chinese potmetal piece of shiet that screws in 5 screws before bending, and you needing to find a new screwdriver.

This seems like a very immediate, logical, valid question.

Not many people wonder what brush style, size & cut Henriëtte Ronner-Knip used to paint that airy, fuzzy looking kitten in 1901, but it was massively important to her, and others on her level

So stop making excuses for lazy producers and musicians!
producers, not usually very lazy though as the art itself requires careful analytical thought, but musicians can be total airheads who dont even know how music works, how to change strings (or that its needed) or sometimes like in the sex pistols, they dont even know how the instrument hanging around their neck works, its all about flashing the image, and reaping the $$$$.

I find some bare basic daw implementation to wrong, nevermind daw stock plugs! many are fkn useless

These are really nice, polite, gentle compressors for when you need that kinda sound. Good for mastering, bus comp., intimate vocals, clean recording with a little compression. Sometimes you just need that.

 

AO recoded all of his plugins and imo they sound spectacular now, as his EQs.
Merica, SSQ, Treq, fast to dial in with a nice sweet spot.
Konsol and Tuba preamp, sounds like hardware.
Compressors Varimoon, Kolin, Yala, amazing compressors.
He is being praised a lot lately on GS.
