While the plugins you've mentioned are all designed to reduce or remove noise, it's not as simple as comparing them directly without context.

I’d classify denoisers into three main categories: spectral denoisers, multiband gates, and machine learning-based denoisers.

    - Spectral denoisers are most effective at removing static or consistent background noise, like hiss or hum. Examples include iZotope RX Spectral Denoise, Klevgrand Brusfri, Acon Digital DeNoise 2, SoundSoap, and others.

    - Multiband gates are better suited for handling dynamic noise while keeping artifacts to a minimum. Plugins in this category include Bertom Denoiser, CEDAR DNS One, Waves WNS, and others.

    - Machine learning-based denoisers are the most advanced and are capable of handling complex and heavy dynamic noise and irregular background sounds. Examples include Acon Digital Extract:Dialogue, CEDAR VoicEX 2, Waves Clarity VX, RX Dialogue Isolate, Sonible Prime Vocal, Supertone Clear, and Accentize VoiceGate.

DX Revive is a different beast (spectral speech resynthesis) altogether and probably belongs in its own category.

Each type of denoiser has its strengths and falls, and choosing the right one depends on the nature of the noise and general task requirements.

Since this topic focused on heavy dynamic noise, machine learning-based denoisers tend to deliver the best results. Here are my subjective impressions:

At the lower end, I’d place Supertone Clear, RX Dialogue Isolate, and Sonible Prime Vocal. These seem to perform decently with light noise, but they struggle with more intense material and often introducing noticeable artifacts and making voices sound unnatural.

In the middle tier, I’d put Waves Clarity VX and Accentize VoiceGate. I want to note that to my ears, VoiceGate (as the name implies) and Supertone Clear feel more like advanced multiband gates than "true" noise removal tools.

Then there are the heavyweights: CEDAR VoicEX (which I haven’t personally used, but have heard in demos) and Acon Digital Extract:Dialogue. Both seem to handle complex noise very well. However, to my ears, Extract:Dialogue can introduce a few more artifacts—particularly on sibilants.

I actually tried the new version of SpectraLayers 12, and with the updated unmixing algorithms, it's surprisingly good—definitely on par with VoicEX and Extract:Dialogue. I tested some denoising examples from a video and processed them at the maximum reduction level. Take a look at the attached files.

    What are your thoughts guys?

Thanks for the heads up, it is actually very impressive as well. Running noise unmix through Spectralayers 12, then adding both voice and noise in separate tracks and pushing the noise up a bit until it's very low level works amazingly well. If you combine dxRevive afterward, it also cleans the audio more while giving it back some of the "life" that was lost due to the voice synthesis. In my case, running it through dxRevive and then Clear had better results, but there are certainly some places where there are fewer artifacts in Spectralayers. The audio also comes out less compressed through Spectralayers, which is interesting.

Don't even think about sharing the slightest piece of sound from a movie or TV project you're working on. Something like that could be an absolute career ending incident. Production companies and directors would completely loose trust and it would be hard to gain back.

I use Sonnox Denoiser for cleaning things. RX it is too heavy on cpu for me.

if you’re looking for a dope denoiser, I got a few favorites that always come through.. check out supertone Clear or Klevgrand Brusfri - it's super easy to use and works great on background hums and hiss, plus it’s light on your computer so you can run it all day. Then also check Accentize DXRevive, which is kinda crazy ‘cause it not only cuts noise but also makes your audio sound brighter and more alive, like it’s bringing your recordings back from the dead. oh and also Clarity VxPro... super precise and perfect for nasty noise but still keeps your vocals or dialogue sounding tight and natural. Honestly, depends what vibe you want - all of these will get rid of noise, just in slightly different ways. I usually pick based on what kinda noise I’m fighting or how much I wanna tweak stuff. You can also check more noise reducer plugins Hope that helps

I didn't notice previously, but there was an R2R release of Antares Soundsoap v6 for Windows in 2024, and one two years earlier from VR. It is pretty light and has a number of features all in one plugin, instead of the developers who all went to individual plugins.
