instead of regular compressor have you tried with multiband compressor with at least 5-6 bands?

Really?
You cant have presets on compressor or any other dynamic effects as every audio that feeds the compressor will be different from the one that you had when you made the presets and it might not even compress anything as it all on the audio
And as many said in here using compression on symphonics music is very rare
