    Hi!

I am rather new to using sound libs. Now I am looking for a choir lib and found Symphonic Choirs by EastWest, which seems to have good word-building options. But it is also rather old and I wonder, if there is a better product out there yet? What would you recommend?

i would recomend Dominus Choir Pro. It dosen't allow you to type anything but it's wordbuilder let's you invent any kind of word imaginable.

I would suggest Vocaloid 6 if I understand well your request. I think it is the best, for English words as well as for Japanese words. And if I remember correctly it is made by Yamaha.

I used voxos for a while, in combination with realivox blue (with a shit ton of reverb) for more focused passages, very nice combination but i only used it on contexts where choir was rather on the back.

From Eastwest i've only tried hollywood choirs and it's decent, a little mid heavy in comparisson, even a bit harsh if you push it, nothing unfixable. But Voxos is way more user friendly imo.

I've been on the look for these kind of libs too, i'm looking forward to steal some lib names from this thread.

I'll say EW's is the only "wordbuilder" choir worth of that name. And if someone proves me wrong I'll be the happiest wordbuilder on the planet.. Other choirs are just laughable. After all this time no dev could do it? And they sell that Sa-Dos-Ma-Sos-An-oos shit for big bucks. In that case I just prefer just the Aahs on Oohs..

Would really like to see a "modern" lib with that capability

I'd agree that East West has the most effective wordbuilder. It falls down a little on faster passages occasionally, and its phonetics are not a simple learning curve even though it is mapped out really well. You have to experiment with individual different vowel and consonant letters within a word in unusual places to get a word to sound exactly how you intended sometimes. It is possible that you can end up with words that if you looked at them, make no sense, but they sound right.

As for choir libraries other than the Diamond EW w/WB, the Audio Imperia Chorus Choir used with an orchestra where you really cannot hear the vowels most of the time anyway, works great. It also may be the only one that does faster impact passages in the older traditional style but I would not gamble on that statement and its legato passages have been dynamically keyswitched pretty well. Plus it has been recorded really well. if you could port the wordbuilder into the Audio Imperia, because it's possibly a better sounding choir, in my opinion, then that would be near perfect.
