Yeah, what a cut! I did better when I ripped it from LP with Cool Edit in 2002 or so!

DumpMedia Spotify Music Converter is great, maybe you can have a try.
It can convert the tracks with 100% original quality.

im also using soulseek, if i need something new i have people to ask to get me FLAC or HQ mp3 from deezer or any other HQ streaming services.

yeah can use deemix with a deezer premium account if you really need to download a lot of new music. This works right now.
Not sure if deezer still has the 3 months trial program Spotify has/had. so you can get 3 months for free with paypal checkout.

i have no problem paying for Deezer, i just need to download music and that's what i used deemix for, but now that developer abandoned it, i need an alternative software that would do the same thing.
yes, deemix still works, but i don't think it will last long.

right now if you pay for deezer you can download quality up to FLAC. Till Deezer changes his API and deemix stops working.
Looking at the history since i use Deezloadr and then deemix, it took them 4 years to fix that free users can download 320 mp3 and HQ FLAC for free. But always good to have an alternative.

There is qobuz, which offers HQ Flacs for a payment, which you can download. (A friend downloaded there track from an indie musician for me in 24bit.)

Another one is Tidal, where you can find also download tools to grab the FLAC files from (not sure if for free or payment.)

    exactly.

will investigate those, thank you for the links.

but initially i was interested in deezer forks (alternatives), since it's open source and there are quite a few of them. i was just wondering if anyone personally tested them and can tell one that beats the other.

With a qobuz regular account (about $2 more @ mo than spotty premium) you can simply record the 16/24 bit 44/96khz playback of ANYTHING on that site for "NO extra payment" at all. You can then put whatever wrappers (flac, mp3?) you want on them after the fact. Why ANYONE would get a service where you can rip HQ tracks for free and then MP3 the result is beyond me... but to each is own.

The STREAMS received FROM qobuz (on the account I mentioned above about 2$@month more than a spotify premium account) are pretty much ALL 16bit 44khz streams WHICH CAN BE RECORDED @ 16BIT 44KHZ on the client side with out fail. A lot of content is available in 24bit 96khz resolution which could also be recorded @ 24bit 96khz on the client side. The resultant RECORDINGS made by the client can then be dealt with any way one wishes (you can convert to FLAC or whatever other wrapper you wish). I prefer FLAC because it's lossless. Processing the raw recorded WAV's to MP3 or some other lossy format defeats the whole purpose of HD audio. The entire purpose of HD audio sites in the first place is to deliver cd quality or higher streams AS THEY ADVERTISE. IF they didn't they would have been long gone by now...

I'm still using free-mp3-download(dot)net and it works: mp3 320 and flac with metadata and cover. The only downside is that you can't download an entire album or entire playlist with just one click, you have to pick the files one by one.
Deezmix was perfect, I hope someone makes an app like that again

Deezloader does not work for me, it says "Failed" on every song I try to download. Yes, I'm logged in with token. I mean, It does downloads mp3 low resolution, but no flac at all

when i wanted to audio capture some BBC4 radio programming a few years back, I found the easiest and best quality was simply to plug a recorder into the audio out jack on my streaming internet radio player and record to sd card. I used a zoom h4n i'd purchased a few years back for a different project.

it will record as .wav or .mp3 - yes it rencodes your audio if you want .mp3
yes it strips all copy protection. yes you have name the files by hand and add mp3 tags if you want that.

    is it perfect? no
    is it perfectly simple? yes

will it always work no matter how much the stream changes software? yes.

here's a review of the device
