I don't want to hurt the sister site's advertising revenue stream, but lately ever other click on the site results in either being taken to another page, or the Opera browser installer being automatically downloaded. I use Chrome and I like it so i'd rather not have to use DuckDuck or Opera or something else. Is there a decent pop up blocker that would at least stop the automatic Opera download? It downloaded 8 times yesterday!

I highly recommend learning how to use NoScript if you want to take care of stuff like this.

A combination of Adblock+Ghostery+uBlock Origin+Adguard extension on Brave (Chromium-based) has been working great for me. No ads whatsoever.

Google blocks uBlock Origin in Chrome: How the ad blocker continues to work Google continues to crack down on ad blockers in its Chrome browser. The popular tool uBlock Origin is blocked for many users, but you can still circumvent the ban.

The provider has responded by offering uBlock Origin Lite as an extension instead, which essentially uses the same filters as uBlock Origin. However, you can also manage the extension and ensure it continues to work. Chrome is annoying cause it bosses you around as user and decides which extension you can install or not. THis is why I use the browser 'ungoogled chromium' . It's basically the same as chrome but you are the boss. You can jus use Ublock origin on it or whatever other type of browser extension you want to use. The downside though is that with any extension on any browsser you just have to trust the extensions creators, as you have no way to tell if an extension shady or not. This is why I am slowly replacing my extensions with extensions that I let my Ai chatbot build from the ground up. Unfortunately though it can not build a Ublock origin or any good adblocker cause parties like google keep changing how things like adds work, so then it will randomly stop working at some point.

What I am wondering about if anyone who uses Ublock origin also has the issue that after about 1 minute of youtube videos playing, they get stuck. Only on edge this does not happen, but I am not a fan of edge at all. I'd rather use the ungoogled chromium browser, but unfortunately like a lot of others videos get stuck after about a minute when I have it turned on.

As long as my Opera browser still supports "uBlock Origin" and "I don't care about cookies," I'll stick with Opera. I've already downloaded two reserve browsers. I recently surfed the web without uBlock Origin, and it's really no fun, and it shows how the internet is being used to make money.

A month ago I received a warning from YouTube telling me to turn off my ad blocker, otherwise they would block my access. There was apparently trouble in the YouTube canteen and the warning disappeared. However, YouTube has a lot of advertising in its videos and with the ad blocker turned on, YouTube automatically blocks them in some videos.

How much RAM does your browser consume? I only kept uBlock Origin.

Opera was sold to a Chinese company a few years back, so I replaced it with Brave browser and I haven't looked back. It also has built-in TOR functionality which is a nice bonus.
