I was reading about this and the RD-8 Mk2 the other day. I'm not to fussed about the RD, but this is a different kettle of (Devil) fish. I wonder how much they'll go for?

"Robin acknowledges that if Behringer wants to proceed then there’s nothing legally they can do to stop him."
Uli could have gone ahead and done it without a formal agreement or blessing.

Yes back then I read about that they were not very happy with the possible Behringer mod, so I wanted to know what had been about that project today 2021, it seems that as @Kluster said

It is like guitar pedal clones : you can patent circuits
But nothing will stop someone to change a resistor value ... and sell a clone

Almost all pedals have clones ... and many Behringer
    And many Aliexpress sellers

dude WTF so now I'm definitely going to buy a second 808
the question is should i keep two of them and link them together??? I mean how much better is the sound really?
I feel like the Mk1 is a pretty good sound
I gotta say though, when you do the multiple outputs and sum things through an analog console, it sounds soooooo much better

I think you are confusing, we are talking about TD3 (bassline), not RD8. I agree that having 2 (nearly) identical drum machines makes no sense, but having 2 basslines is definitely double the fun

There's really no point having both.
