Analogue is becoming digital and is a huge business for Behringer, securing jobs and filling the company's bank accounts.
Do you need it? No. There is a huge collection of vintage Dium machines as practical space-saving WAV.

Here 2 Songs with the Roland CR-78:

Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight

    Blondie - Heart Of Glass

Or house and hip hop. Id like one, for some funky tech house, dirtybird style.

The CR-78 VST emu by Cherry Audio is very nice too.

The RD-78 may be pretty cheap, as usual with Behringer, has multi-outputs, sequencer, midi ... Far beyond the rare and expensive CR-78 (I owned one, but without the programmer it was pretty useless).

This little box may be really usefull for anyone who like electronic drums like tr-606 or 808. The kick is not big but the instruments are very cool.

The CR-78 from Cherry Audio is a really affordable alternative to the hardware. https://cherryaudio.com/products/cr-78
Do you even have space for the hardware version and enough sockets?

Well I wish Roland would add the acb version of CR-78 to their RolandCloud... as it's in their TR8 or whatnot, and has been for years and years... so they've done the acb work on it already...

Surprised they didn't make a boutique out of it, as it has been asked for.

But their are some good Kontakt libs and whatnot by third parties that cover it pretty well... I do like the CR-78 a fair amount actually... works great for certain things, and layers... and as mentioned, played a pretty big role in that Phil Collins megahit and can be heard on everything from him, Devo, Ultravox, Fatboy Slim, Peter Gabriel, LCD Soundsystem and so so many others...Blondies "Heart of Glass" right? (if memory serves)..

Hardware is always good if you play live or if you have a studio (large analog mixer etc...), plus it's also usefull in a modular environement. CR-78 instruments are nice for modular experiments if there are multiple audio outs like on this Behringer.
I'm just waiting for the price ...
The LmDrum is nice but a bit expensive.

Oh I agree, I use hardware all the time time when I'm with it.

and I thought I read it was going to cost ~$159?

$199USD, I believe, so, you can wipe off that grin, I know where you've been... It's all been a pack of lies....

I honestly think that VST is really quite good. I have just the one off the sister site, but I have a lot of legit Cherry Audio stuff and think I'd like to grab that one some day too.

I'd actually love the RD-78, but my problem is I just don't have enough inputs on my interface yet (at least for all the individual outputs, which I would likely want).. so that's yet another cost for me.

Yeah, I haven't tried the cherry audio version myself. (I'm on macOS, so I don't think sister site has it in that regard).. but whatevers. so it goes... maybe I will pick it up off cherry audio but I've got it in my hardware Roland stuff and Kontakt decent versions... but of course... I'm open, as I like using it here to there on occasion...

and nice quote you got there.... (isn't it funny how you just hear the whole song in your head with just a line or two?)

"But I know the reason why you keep your silence up
    No, you don't fool me
    Well, the hurt doesn't show
    But the pain still grows
It's no stranger to you or me"

Hardware is always fun, I prefer it, but I also love samplers.

Also, don't forget, many people prefer to stay DAWless.

Without a DAW, yes, but with a smartphone and at the checkout they pay with a card.
Does anyone know someone who lives a totally analogue life?

I guess after the 909 808 & 606 remaking the cr-78 is super simple, but it is still really low on the list of things I was looking forward to

Hey, I still write checks Radio! ;). /s. (nothing like holding up the queue right?)

(actually I just pay with my phone or watch... I have had to use my card or cash only once in the last 5 months or so....)

I prefer a person at the cash register, machines are cold and lifeless. And I have time to save a few minutes from all this rushing around. P.S.: We mean self-scanning cash register systems. It's nice that you still write checks.

Oh I prefer a person as well! (and usually need one as checking out alcohol ;) )... and I like the interaction, and get to know their names and lifestory if I'm going to the same place enough... (and it's always a good idea to become close with your butcher etc in a self serving fashion where this real life interaction desire does not originate from, but an added bonus, as hell, in multiple locations, that bonding has led to better cuts of the good stuff (they will save for you) and better prices with thumbing up the scale lol)...

not to mention self scanning systems suck for things like vegetables and whatnot and getting it right.... or more of a pita for just me perhaps..

I was sarcastic regarding checks (hence the "/s" thing) ... I can't think of the last time I wrote one of those outside of rent years ago or 'gifting' someone older etc...

However, right now, being in the UK at this moment, or EU, or in states, I just use my phone to pay, or watch,... at this point I don't even carry my wallet for the most part... No one is 'carding' me for alcohol, and the risk factor, and additional whatever credit card savings with different attributes / networks etc....
