The real thing sounds alive and interesting, like records of the past. It fills the audio spectrum with perfect tonal balance, clarity and warmth.

I could help you there. It's not a clone. It's basically their version of a Volca that is "modeled" after a VS.

 

take my money now... I've got the Behringer analog bug since purchasing the Poly D!

 

As someone who owned a Prophet VS, Prophet VS Rack and Oberheim OBX A
I'm interested to hear these. My guess is they will be way more reliable. The Prophet VS was notoriously unreliable due to heat issues.
Why the Fuck has the VS got a volca KB?

Don't think its modelled but it will be interesting to see what they have done to miniaturise and what chips they have used to reproduce the VS.
The original chips would be long since out of production. Sequential used lots of proprietary chips & EPROMS which I updated purchased from David Sesnak at Wine County Sequential for my Prophet, Prophet VS' (keyboard and Rack), Drumtrax,Sixtrax & Pro-One.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding but I don't mean it's an analog modeled synthesizer (that wouldn't make sense, hence my confusion), I mean it's literally what they wrote, as in inspired by:

"PRO VS. Polyphonic 4-Voice Hybrid Vector Synthesizer with Presets and full Midi implementation modeled after the Prophet VS from 1986 but with many extra functions"

I don't even know if this little guy has an analog filter. I hope so. I hope it sounds cool. It's super cheap @ $99.

"Modeled after" = "inspired by"

 

"Modeled after" is the new "We tried to clone it but it turned out badly"
and eventually they solved the problem only by reproducing the graphic style, hoping that the buyer has never heard the original

 

yeah, I tend to agree, what they wrote doesn't give much away. They're literally saying we don't have the chips for production.
It's not impossible with the advances in VSLI & Board production since the original was built, not to mention scale and heat..

However, I find it highly improbable we'll see an accurate A:B with the origenal. The PAds on the VS were really lush.
Although no analogue filter.. no VS.

Assumptions are fun sometimes. I think that if Uli Behringer, personally, really really wanted to clone the VS, it wouldn't be tiny or 99$, and he could do it. Uli definitely has the capital.

Would be kinda funny if in a few months from now they're like: here is our BVS prototype. Even funnier, if that little thing actually sounded like a VS.

I could be wrong but I don't remember them saying they were going to clone the VS, or much people asking for it in general.

 

I am worried these new models might be more expensive or even delayed for a long time due to the several global issues right now.
It will probably get a lot worse. Expensive gas and oil means someone will have to cover the expenses and that is you, the customer.
Hell, a loaf of bread will probably cost 5x more in a few months.
Now if China gets involved in this theater of war, there will be no gear coming from China, Behringer and others will have to close the factories, this is a big probability so buy gear now while you still can.
