Some context:
I've just bought one. I have a BeatBuddy, a drum machine, and I wanted a foot controller so I could expand the foot functionality of the unit. I bought a modern, slick, and light-weight controller, Chinese origin. It failed on me after a few months. As a gigging musician, I cannot trust a unit like Captain MIDI.

It took me a few hours and a couple of not-so helpful videos to figure the FCB1010 out. I don't need PC programs for what I use. It's all CC commands.

I can assign button, CC value number one and give it a number. I cannot access CC2 from the unit.

People talk about third-party firmware updates and software that can mod this behavior. Without access to CC2, the pedals cannot work like a stompbox. I'd need two presses of a button to activate/deactivate a command.

Can anyone please point the right direction to me?

So you're saying that those 26 Euros are worth it? Does it work flawlessly? Have you tried it yourself?

Is there a freebie around that does the same thing? Please share your insight.

That's almost half the price I paid for the unit itself.

 

I see this is a hardware mod. Isn't there a software-only solution, or is it the design of the rig itself? Maybe I wasted my money expecting stompbox behavior.

 

I have the UNO-firmware chip, and the original editor software, definetly worth their price. Never had any problems with it. The stompbox mode makes the FCB1010 a great midi controller for guitar software.
