Looks like Gibson is reissuing the J160e 62 spec just like the lads used to play. Yoko won't be getting any funds from this run THANK GOD!!! And they finally got the burst right!!! Ordered mine yesterday from ZZsounds.com

 

Wow, that's awesome - if only I didn't have too many guitars already!

 

Love to hear your take on the tone compared to say a Martin or something similar. I plan to add a "just for recording" acoustic to my pile of guitars soon.

 

I have a D28 standard. I've also owned a Lennon J160e in the past. Night and day is the best way I can describe it. The J160e is a horrible guitar if you're looking for a great sounding acoustic. HOWEVER, it does have its tricks or trick. It's THE early Beatles acoustic sound. Nothing else can do it.

 

Great explanation! I see a lot of country/bluegrass players using old Gibson acoustics. I would imagine for similar reasons. I need to do a little research on them I suppose. I thought my Yamaha sounded awesome until I sat next to my friend playing his Martin. I've actually gotten lots of compliments about the sound of that cheap Yamaha, lol.
